Day 2544 – Road Trip Part 5 – Yellowstone to Jenny Lake

Our last leg of the journey to California was through Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. I’m so glad we decided to take the slightly longer way to Yellowstone through Montana. Such a beautiful state! And sooooo friendly and trusting. The first gas station we visited let us PUMP FIRST and then pay! WHAT?! We’ve traveled through a LOT of states and we’ve NEVER experienced that.

We actually used maps this trip!

Yellowstone was such a great stop!

Then we stopped to see Old Faithful. I have the sunburn to prove the wait! Old Faithful kept giving us little teases like it was about to go off, but nope! It was really neat to see it!

Next we drove through the Grand Tetons. This was my favorite part of the trip. Such an amazingly beautiful place. Wow.

The place I was most looking forward to seeing was Jenny Lake. See, I was partially named after Jenny Lake. At first, my parents were going to just name me Jenny, but thanks to my mom and my grandmother, they decided I needed a more formal name. Thus, Jennilyn was created. Sadly, I was not the first, but I was at the beginning of a lot of them! I love my name. 🙂

And here I am crossing the Sierra’s, almost to Bret’s family in Cali. 🙂

Day 2543 – Road Trip Part 4 – Devil’s Tower To Montana

We stayed the night in Custer and it was a great break from the drive. So nice to sleep in a bed…even though we normally sleep on the floor. In the morning, we made our way into Wyoming.

After that, we went to Devil’s Tower. Such a cool place.

If you’ve been to Devil’s Tower, you know about those Prairie Dogs!

The Tower is so big up close!

We decided to call it a night in Montana so we’d be fresh for Yellowstone. We caught an amazing sunset!

Everything is bigger in Montana, even the wishes!

Day 2541 – Road Trip Part 3 – Bear Country To Rushmore To Crazy Horse

On Sunday, we took a spontaneous trip to Bear Country USA! It was a great side trip! We saw lots of animals!

Then we did a quick Rushmore trip…

And Crazy Horse to end the day of travel!

Day 2540 – Road Trip Part 2 – Minnesota to The Corn Palace To South Dakota To The Badlands

On Sunday morning, Bret woke me up to this.

A few hours later, we made it to the Corn Palace in South Dakota.

South Dakota as a state is really beautiful to drive through!

We stopped at a little western town, but it cost to go into the town itself. We did however grab coffee in the train car restaurant! So cool!

Our next stop was The Badlands. Oh what a beautiful place!

Day 2539 – Road Trip Part 1 – Baltimore to Philly to PA to Chicago

On Friday, we started the first leg of our journey across the country. Our first stop was a concert in Philly with friends. This drive should only take about an hour and a half without traffic, that day, it took us about 3 hours. Oy. I was not happy.

So, after a rough start, we decided to give up driving all together. Thanks to our friends, we got to quit….at least for a few hours. 🙂

Then we rocked out to our favs – Thrice. What a great show! Both of us were in the pit most of the show.

But then I decided to move to the front. Dudes, it’s more intense up there than the pit! But I got some great photos!

It was a really cool venue!!

After the show, we drove back to our friends’ house. Ok, these two are some of our favorite people. Kenny and Naomi have been instrumental in our relationship and marriage. They are never afraid to ask hard questions and be encouraging. AND they are very hospitable! These two cut up mangoes and heated up chili at ONE in the morning…AFTER letting us take showers. It was a great start to our trip! We love you guys!!

We drove through the night, both of us drove and got a chance to sleep a bit. We were pretty energized the next morning!

Ok, well, I was at least. 🙂

Then we stopped for breakfast/lunch near the other side of PA. I’m really glad we did sandwiches in the cooler! It was a great way to save money, an easy fix and quite delicious.
