About 365 days of marriage

I started this blog in April of 2011. At the time, Bret and I were wedding photographers and it was a way to share how marriage is more about the day to day and so much more than the wedding day itself. For about 5 years, I blogged about the joys and sorrows of the Christian walk, marriage, work, family and friends. I’ve blogged every day since a few weeks after I started. In May of 2015, we photographed our last wedding. Now, I have become passionate about simplicity, particularly in marriage, Christianity, business, travel and life. For a number of reasons, we have become minimalists. I’ve found that having simplicity makes life so much deeper, refreshing and joyful. I hope that this blog will help others see the benefits of living simply.

Day 1374 – Nothing Too Exciting Happened Today…

So, Friday I worked about 4 hours, Saturday, I worked about 15 hours, Sunday I worked about 8 hours. By today, I was tired! I took a long nap last night and then slept somewhat in this morning.

For the rest of the day, I’m not going to lie, I really didn’t do anything! I mean, I cleaned up my desk, went through my emails, did a little blogging. But otherwise, I watched Lost and played games. I edited a few of the bridal show pics, but didn’t finish. It was a fantastic day!!! Boy did I need the rest and relaxation!

Day 1371 – Hightopps In Timonium, A Great Place To Celebrate!

So, as you know, we paid off our bills yesterday! Woo! Happy day! So, instead of going out and spending a lot of money to celebrate, we found a place to have an inexpensive night out!

We went to Hightopps Backstage Grille! The main reason we went was because of their Thursday night special!

The special was a pitcher of beer AND a pizza for ten bucks!!! It was a DELICIOUS pizza too! They also had $1 Coors Light drafts after 6 p.m. We left paying less than $30 bucks WITH tip! I highly recommend the place! Lots of fun outdoor seating too!

Day 1370 – Wow, It’s So Unreal

Today, I paid the last payment on our debt. We have no loans, no credit card balances. I have been in debt for almost half my life. To say this is a happy day is an understatement. I’ve been trying not to cry for a while.

To also realize that as of right now, I’m 2/3 of the way to making what I made last year in my business….To further realize that I have 9 weddings in 2013, the most I’ve ever had in one year, and know that I will more than likely still book more…

To know that my husband is willing to sacrifice so much that I can pursue my photography career….From moving in with my parents, to working 5 jobs, to telling me the things I NEED to hear about my business and not the things I WANT to hear.

Well, I’m completely undone.

Thank you to all of you who have supported me, whether through being my client, sharing hard advice, encouraging me when I’m down or just being an ear.

This isn’t an easy career (despite what some may think) but I wouldn’t have it any other way. 🙂

Since I can’t really take a picture of the $0.00 on things….I figured I’d share a few pictures that capture how we’re feeling right now…

Day 1369 – What Do You Do On A Summer Like Spring Day??

I did a lot of driving around today and boy was it hot! I realize it isn’t THAT hot, but since Maryland goes from freezing to warm pretty quickly, I forgot what warm was like.

I thought, wow, it’s almost warm enough to jump in the river!

Well….it actually is.

I asked my youngest brother if he felt like going for a bike ride and jumping in the river in the middle of the ride. Oh boy did he feel like it!

We biked about 5 1/2 miles total and hopped in the river for about 10 minutes. The water was AMAZING. Ahhhhh. Great summer day. Ahem…I mean Spring.
