About 365 days of marriage

I started this blog in April of 2011. At the time, Bret and I were wedding photographers and it was a way to share how marriage is more about the day to day and so much more than the wedding day itself. For about 5 years, I blogged about the joys and sorrows of the Christian walk, marriage, work, family and friends. I’ve blogged every day since a few weeks after I started. In May of 2015, we photographed our last wedding. Now, I have become passionate about simplicity, particularly in marriage, Christianity, business, travel and life. For a number of reasons, we have become minimalists. I’ve found that having simplicity makes life so much deeper, refreshing and joyful. I hope that this blog will help others see the benefits of living simply.

Day 1366 – A Day At K&B Bridals Is A Day Well Spent

The owner of K&B Bridals, Bridget Moore, very graciously allows me to come hang out in her store from time to time. She is a former bride AND a very dear friend. I LOVE hanging out at her shop! There’s always a positive energy and lots of good tears. There’s nothing like the moment a bride walks out of the dressing room and you KNOW this is the dress she’ll walk down the aisle to her groom in. I’ve definitely had my fair share of tears shed while watching the process. πŸ™‚

I met some great brides (who I hope to work with down the road!) and had a good time getting to know her employees.

There’s other reasons I love K&B…

I get to look at the Faye Daniel Designs CUSTOM made jewelry on display…

I get to hang out with Bridget and sometimes her husband Chris pops in…

And I got to meet this wonderful bride when she tried on (and found) her dress!

Day 1365 – M.A.F.F. (Mid-Atlantic Fireworks Festival) – You HAVE To Go!!

Tonight we went to the Mid-Atlantic Fireworks Festival. My cousin was doing a tribute show for my grandfather, which was the only reason I went. I will admit, I didn’t think it would be all that great. Just a few fireworks.

Boy, was I WRONG!

It consisted of about 6 shows. About 5-10 minutes for each show. They were choreographed to music…and just stunning.

They were fireworks like I remembered as a kid…where they were SO BIG you thought they’d fall on you (which wasn’t too far off as we were RIGHT THERE)….and they lasted forever. There were several times I wasn’t taking pictures and just standing there with that “mouth-hanging-open-starring-into-space-completely-and-totally-in-awe-of-something” kid face. I really miss being a kid.

Here’s a few videos of the show (I did NOT do these). There are a few others on this guy’s page! Enjoy!

Day 1363 – Roadtrippin’ In Maryland or Oh The Irony!

Today, the plan was to drop off Rebekah Thorsett’s wedding album at K&B Bridals and Event Planning (She’s one of their planners now!) and then drive up to Anne Marie Baumann’s to drop off her wedding album.

I was chatting with Bridget (owner of K&B and a dear friend) for a little while and mentioned I had Anne Marie’s album (all of the Baumann attire was bought/rented through K&B!) Bridget said, oh wow, she was JUST here!!! Now, normally, this would just be a funny set of events…..but it was more ironic because Anne Marie lives about an hour away from K&B! Ooops!

While it would have been easy to get mad about all of the additional driving (that I was planning on doing anyway!) but I saw it as an adventure! On the way home I stopped by the Flying J out in North East. I felt like I was driving cross country with Bret again! Ah, such good memories. I’m not going to lie, there was a part of me that almost turned around and went to the beach! I love random adventures. πŸ™‚
