Day 2860 – Networking, Tamales, Food Trucks, And Having Lunch With Bret On His Birthday

Yesterday was a really great day! I spent the morning in a networking meeting at Rooster + Hen. It was a great time, and I met some really great people! I love chatting with other business owners. 🙂

At the end of the meeting, a lady came by with TAMALES! Every time we visit Bret’s family in California, I am fed oodles of tamales. Amazing, delicious, I could eat them all day (and I do), tamales. I love the east coast, but I have not found tamales of the same caliber….until yesterday. The tamales I got at Rooster + Hen were just amazing. Since it was close to lunch time, I was able to swing by Bret’s work and take the tamales to share.

It turns out Bret had a few surprises at work! It’s teacher appreciation week, so there have been mountains of free food. Yesterday, they brought in a food truck, and a hilariously named one – Jurasic Pork BBQ!! The guy was so nice and gave me something to eat too.

We hunkered down, tried out a few of the foods, and I came home. It was a wonderful, and delicious day!

Day 2834 – Lunch With A Long Time Friend!

A good friend of mine lives only about 5-10 minutes away (from our current and our old apartment), would you believe today was the FIRST time we got to hang out in the 2+ years I’ve lived close by? It was such a great time of catching up and eating delicious food. Now I want to take a nap!

Day 2796 – Eatin’ Crabs Chesapeake Style

A few days back, Bret and I watch a really great program about Maryland Blue Crabs, Eatin’ Crabs Chesapeake Style.* The DVD was broken up into two segments – where you can find great crab houses and where you can find great crab cakes in Maryland. Since crabs aren’t quite in season yet, Bret bought a big bag of crab chips. I’m not ashamed to admit we ate almost the entire bag….and why yes, it was a family sized bag…

Throughout the show, Bret kept looking at me lovingly. Steamed Maryland Crabs are a big deal to me, and a point of pride in my Maryland heritage. There were some great places shared, I was so happy to know we’ve been to one of them!

Where is your favorite crab house and/or crab cake? We might just have to take a trip around Maryland this summer!
