Day 3416 – The Biggest Part Of Meeting Your Personal Goals

After a very successful run this morning, I thought, you know, meeting my goals with running all comes down to this – I don’t care what anyone says I should be doing, whether distance, time, whatever – I care if I am doing better today than myself yesterday, last week, or last year.

I think that right there is the biggest part of meeting your personal goals – compare success against your past self. Whatever your goal might be, don’t look at someone else’s plan, look at yourself. Whether it’s running more or reading more or whatever – you define your success.

Day 3136 – Having Goals And Meeting Them – or – James Joyce Celebration

One thing Bret and I have been doing is setting rewards for different successes. One of Bret’s was to go to James Joyce when he closed a deal. He has a wall of photos of things he’s working towards. Things like Disney World, trips, a new home, etc. A few weeks back, we were able to fulfill the goal of James Joyce! It is such a fun restaurant with delicious food. I’m going to print out the photo of us there so Bret can replace it on his wall as something he HAS done.

Day 3047 – Setting Boundaries And Keeping Them

I have a whole lot going on in my life. Working for clients, working for Bret, writing my third book, building my online presence, reading 300 books this year (29 to go…what?!), just to name a few. I’m learning that having boundaries in my life is the way to fit everything in. I’ve noticed a few habits that have been making it much harder to meet my goals. I’ve noticed a very unhealthy habit with my phone. From checking work emails WAY too much….I mean, seriously, how much is actually going to happen between 8:30 p.m. and 6 a.m.? I was also playing way too many games. I cut them all off, but I have found I need a few. So I’m up to 2 games. As for checking work emails, I am so freakin’ proud of myself….I didn’t check them at all from about Friday at 5 p.m. until, well, I haven’t checked them yet. I always thought the ideal day would include free time all day to use as I wished, but having structure is so important for my workflow. I still have a long way to go, but it feels great to see results already.

How do you set boundaries in your life?
