Day 738 – First Time at Mom’s Organic Market

Today we visited Mom’s Organic Market for the first time. You may remember we like organic foods. We typically will shop at Trader Joe’s or Wegman’s. Trader Joe’s has just a little bit better pricing, but the selection isn’t as amazing as Wegman’s. Well, about 80-90% of Mom’s is organic. I think I spent about 80-90% of my time there with my mouth hanging open at just how much organic food there was. Produce, meats, lunch meat, canned food, frozen food. It was seriously overwhelming. They even carried our groceries to the car! Even though there were two of us and only one bag, a jug of juice and a gallon of milk. We were blown away!!!

We will more than likely do most of our shopping here now. We got a few things (we had to put a price limit because it was SO tempting to get EVERYTHING!) including a few treats for me! This “energy drink” Brain Toniq, has no caffeine and a whole bunch of healthy stuff. Maybe not the best of ideas to drink it at 9:00 p.m…..but at least I’ll see how it works!

Also, who can resist Elmo and the Cookie Monster!

Day 737 – My Obsession with Pens

One thing you have to know about me (if you didn’t already) is that I love to collect pens. All types of pens. If I see one in a doctor’s office and it looks free, I take it. If someone goes on a trip, I ask for a pen (you can normally get them for free or cheap!) You cannot take me into Target anywhere near back to school. I am no good. Forget about it when that stuff goes on clearance. I still have notebooks I bought when I worked there….over 5 years ago. Though, we haven’t had to buy any supplies for Bret for college yet!

If I go to a bridal show, I swipe all the pens I can. Ok this only happened once, when I was invited to an open house and went as a guest and not a vendor…..that was weird by the way. Bret and I felt sooooo awkward! It was like we were lying or something. But I totally did a duck between and around a vendor to get a pen. I feel a little bad about that…but then I write with the pen, which is an amazing pen from a local florist…though, I can’t find it! Bret did an amazing job cleaning the apartment today….I guess too good if I can’t find the pen! When I find it, I’ll post the link!

My co-worker went to Paris last week and I was so excited to see if he would bring me one back! I was not disappointed!

The blue one lights up and has the Eiffel Tower in it. The second, yes, that’s a baguette shaped pen. I was so siked about that!

While we’re on the topic, I figured I would post most of my collection. I say most because I have stock piles of pens EVERYWHERE! Even after taking the pictures I found another ten. So! Here is most of my collection.

Then I decided to pull out a few of my favorites. Fuzzy pens. Fancy pens. Wood carved animal shaped pens. Clear pens with moving parts. Light up pens. Talking pens. Viagra pens (I forgot I had that one!) Pens from the US, UK and beyond!

I love looking at and playing with the clear pens with moving parts. They’re so old school and I have some from really cool places.

Now, you may be wondering…what is your favorite pen then?? I’m actually really easy to please. My absolute favorite pen is your every day….Bic Click.

Let me tell you, when I finally get pens for my business….I think my excitement will be just a little bit over the top!

Day 736 – Love & War

One of the things Bret and I did on our day of rest was to start reading a really fantastic book. Love & War by John and Stasi Eldredge. I have been a huge fan of John Eldredge for years. His book, Wild At Heart, changed my life. Literally. It was a catalyst to ending the relationship I was currently in and it opened my eyes to what true biblical manhood was like. I gave Bret a copy to read when we were dating and he was still in the military. He had the chance to read it in the desert during training. I was so happy he got to experience such a great book….in the wild! We also enjoy John’s books so much, we gave one as our favor, on our Day 1.

This book, Love & War, is about marriage and how God takes two people, most of the time complete opposites, and uses marriage to help them grow. Just in the few chapters we’ve read together we’ve already discovered new things about ourselves and our marriage. I highly recommend this book for newlyweds and longlyweds.

Day 735 – New Wine

Today I tried a new wine. It was alright. I need to remind myself I don’t really like too many white wines…I think I was swayed by the bottle design. I’m a sucker, a complete and total sucker, for cool packaging.

Day 734 – A Day of Rest

Today we took our day of rest. It was so wonderful! It was also REALLY hard!!! I’m very much a ~~workaholic~~, ahem, “passionate about my work” type of person. I can work a 12 hour day editing images from a wedding and still be up for more! So, as I approach working full time as a photographer, I’m seeing that taking a day of full and complete rest is going to be VERY necessary! And also something that will take discipline. Funny thought, huh? You have to discipline yourself to rest. If you don’t believe me…try it, just one day, no work (obviously, make this a day you’re not scheduled to work!)…it’s harder than you think! Then again…maybe it’s just me…

What did we do today you ask? Well…first, we slept until 11:30! Solid! Don’t forget that we saw the midnight showing of Harry Potter last night! We got home around 2:30 and maybe asleep by 3….so, it’s not so bad… then we started playing Lego Star Wars. We are seriously addicted to this game. It may be a problem. Then we grabbed lunch with my brother at Jason’s Deli and did a little shopping with him. Bret then went to hang out with my brother at my parents’ house and I stayed home. I started a puzzle, watched movies and just flat out relaxed. It was glorious. I didn’t even turn on my computer! I did check my Facebook a few times….and my business email just once!
