Day 3283 – Working On Vacation

Yesterday, I spent the bulk of the day working. From scheduling posts in my Facebook group to watching videos in my blogger courses to drafting new content. That hasn’t been the norm of the trip, but I had a lot of content to create and had to get it done.

I do wish that I had prepped more content, but I have to say that NOT having certain things done has caused me to grow in ways I never would have if everything was done before I left. Yesterday was a great day of content creation as well as learning.

Some folks might read this and think, what is she doing working on vacation? But here’s the thing, the lifestyle I’m creating for myself involves working on things at specific times. I’m totally ok with staying in my room all day if it means that I can do certain things more often down the road. The whole “laptop lifestyle” they talk about sounds great in theory, but in practice, it takes some sacrifices.

One thing that helped keep me on track was writing out my to-do lists for the whole time we are here. I can easily look and know if I’m on track or if I have to lock myself away.

Do you work on vacation?

Day 3279 – My New Project – Traveling Jen Finding Zen

I’ve been hinting about it for a few months and I am ready to announce…..I am starting a new blog! The purpose will be encouraging others that they CAN take a road trip and that it is much more accessible than they think. We’ve taken four cross-country road trips and I love telling people how possible it can be to take a trip.

There were a few things that happened in my life that created a perfect storm of the perfect timing to jump in. I purchased a blog course bundle to help me build my new blog, learn the right way to set things up (there are lot of things on THIS blog that I want to change now), and will be working towards making an income through the blog.

If you want to follow along with my journey, check out my different online accounts!

I’m still building things and like many projects, I know it will change as time goes on. I’d love to know what you guys think!

I will be taking photos of myself doing the tree pose and making my selfie face on my journeys!

Day 3276 – Success Tip – Keep Your Routines While You Travel

One habit I’ve been working on is getting up when my alarm goes off…at 5 a.m. We’re on our second day away, and I’ve gotten up at 5 both days. What this allows is the completion of my morning routine. It’s 10 a.m. (PDT) and I’ve already worked out, done my reading, read my goals/January letter, and had coffee with Bret. It has allowed me to work on my new project and write this blog post before the day has even really started.

I originally thought I would only take photos of my January letter, goals, and contract with myself for my new project. But I realized it would be much more powerful to bring my originals with me. I have page protectors for goals and checklists and have used them every day. Just having them is a reminder to my brain that I’m not “off the hook” because I’m on a trip. I’ve found more success when I am serious about my goals than when I let myself off easy.

What do you do to keep your routine while you’re traveling?

Day 3270 – Mini Adventure And Knocking Off A Few Summer Bucket List Items Today!

I’m scheduling this post the night before you’ll be reading it. It’s already late (7 p.m.) because we’re getting up at 1 a.m. We’re taking our first “leave super early to watch the sunrise” trip to the beach this year! I’ll share how everything went later, but I’m excited to break in our new car on his first road trip. 🙂

It’s so neat to decide on things we wanted to do this summer (watch the sunrise at the beach & get all you can eat crabs at On The Bay Seafood) and already crossing them off the list!

Day 3266 – World Productivity Day!

Hurray for productivity and a whole day to celebrate it! I love learning about productivity and practicing things that lead to a productive life. There are a number of ways that I’m currently trying to increase my productivity and achieve my goals.

First, Bret and I had a pretty long (over several days) conversation about what a successful summer would look like for us. We started the conversation on Saturday, technically before his summer break from teaching started. What this conversation has done is set our expectations for the summer. We talked about our bucket list of things to do. We talked about daily habits we want to practice. We talked about our work goals.

This morning, I’m a little behind schedule because I finally sat down, wrote out my goals and printed them out. I have a new checklist to highlight daily habits. I printed out all my goals in my January letter as well as some monetary goals (i.e. when I hit this dollar amount, I’ll do/buy/etc something else). I printed our summer bucket list and some of the big names I want to meet. This isn’t necessary for this year, but I want to start keeping those goals in front of me daily.

I also tried something new this morning. I want to get back into running and I’m taking a different approach. Previously, it was all about going for a 5k or following a plan. It was just too fast for the overachiever in me. So instead, I’m setting a “run three times a week” goal. I am only running a very short distance and only increasing my mileage when I feel ready. This is a big shift for me because I’m all about big milestones, but the joy is in the consistency. The different thing I did this morning was pre-prep my food before my run. I scooped my leftover takeout into the microwave, put a bottle of water and peaches on the counter, so as soon as I came through the door, I could start the microwave, grab the water, and recover. It made a big difference for sure.

So a big part of being productive is setting yourself up for success, whatever that means for you.

How are you going to be productive today?
