About 365 days of marriage

I started this blog in April of 2011. At the time, Bret and I were wedding photographers and it was a way to share how marriage is more about the day to day and so much more than the wedding day itself. For about 5 years, I blogged about the joys and sorrows of the Christian walk, marriage, work, family and friends. I’ve blogged every day since a few weeks after I started. In May of 2015, we photographed our last wedding. Now, I have become passionate about simplicity, particularly in marriage, Christianity, business, travel and life. For a number of reasons, we have become minimalists. I’ve found that having simplicity makes life so much deeper, refreshing and joyful. I hope that this blog will help others see the benefits of living simply.

Day 1404 – You Have To Have Goals And A Way To Measure Them

A few days ago, I was chatting with Bret and my sister about how far I had run since I’ve used RunKeeper and I said I have completed over 2,000 miles! It got me thinking how cool it is that I have so much history tracked. As I was preparing for this blog, I took a screen shot of my success…I was a little off on the miles….

Soooo, I’ve run 186 miles and burned over 20,000 calories….oops! But still, it’s really great to see that success! Baltimore is 186 miles away from NYC. AWESOME to think I’ve run that far! Now, this covers about 2 years of running…but still! It was really encouraging to me to see what I’ve done in the past. I encourage you to find a tracker for whatever your goal is! There are tons of apps out there!

Day 1403 – Testing Out New Gear With My Favorite Photographer!

Over the weekend, I got to hang out with my dear friend Shawna of Shawna Sherrell Photography. I rented a new flash and wanted someone to test it out with me! Let me just say….I LOVE Off Camera Flash! I can’t wait to buy the gear I need to offer this to my clients!

I got some super fun shots of her daughter…

Day 1402 – Awesome Mead And Cider In My Backyard – Millstone Cellars – Monkton, Maryland

Today, my brother Josh and I finally stopped by Millstone Cellars.

When we first arrived, the parking lot and tasting room were pretty packed! But we didn’t have to wait long to get a guided tour of the mill. It was fascinating to hear the story behind the mill, how mills operated, how they process their mead and cider, everything!

We sat down and tried several of their current bottles. Oh. My. Gosh. SO good! Josh and I each bought a bottle of the Gingeroot cider. We also loved the Hopbrosia mead. It actually has hops in there too! Yum!

So if you’re in the area, check them out! If you can’t stop by, find them in a store near you….wow, I sound like a commercial! But seriously, so good!

So here is some honeycomb outside. Fresh honey. Dude.
