About 365 days of marriage

I started this blog in April of 2011. At the time, Bret and I were wedding photographers and it was a way to share how marriage is more about the day to day and so much more than the wedding day itself. For about 5 years, I blogged about the joys and sorrows of the Christian walk, marriage, work, family and friends. I’ve blogged every day since a few weeks after I started. In May of 2015, we photographed our last wedding. Now, I have become passionate about simplicity, particularly in marriage, Christianity, business, travel and life. For a number of reasons, we have become minimalists. I’ve found that having simplicity makes life so much deeper, refreshing and joyful. I hope that this blog will help others see the benefits of living simply.

Day 1484 – Big Surprise At The Next Big Buzz Live 2013

Last night, we had a GREAT surprise from Mara Glazer at The Next Big Buzz Live….

Tickets to AND food vouchers at the Baltimore Orioles baseball game! AND we got shirts to wear!!

It was such a blast and the first O’s game I’ve attended since I was a kid. I wasn’t really a fan of baseball at the time and that stuck with me as I grew up. I’m not going to lie, I’m a bit of a fair weather fan…I got a little excited about watching their games when they did so well last year….but going to a game again made me appreciate it again. The fact that I could drink a beer at the game probably helped. πŸ˜‰

We even got to see a grand slam! So cool!

Day 1483 – Amazing Marketing

On my lunch break today I got a sub from a local shop. I purchased solely because of a sign outside I saw yesterday that said “Free Smells.”

I got a turkey sub, boring, sure. But! There was a sticker on the sub that said, “subs so fast you’ll freak.”

I actually did! It was very fast and I was back to the conference in record time. The sub was from Jimmy John’s. See if there’s one near you!!

Day 1481 – I Wasn’t Lying When I Said This…

On my website, I say this… “Since we believe in cultivating a friendship with our couples, we really get to know them and keep in touch long after the wedding.”

Some couples we’re able to keep in contact with pretty regularly, some it’s not so often.

For Melinda Honhke, it was far too long. Five years in fact!

Tonight, I had the great joy of finally seeing my sweet bride. And you know, the best part was it felt like no time had passed at all. I’m so thankful for that connection with my clients!!

p.s. We set a date on the calendar while I was there! I shot the Hohnke wedding with my brother, not Bret, so they haven’t met him yet! I can’t wait til they do! πŸ™‚
