About 365 days of marriage

I started this blog in April of 2011. At the time, Bret and I were wedding photographers and it was a way to share how marriage is more about the day to day and so much more than the wedding day itself. For about 5 years, I blogged about the joys and sorrows of the Christian walk, marriage, work, family and friends. I’ve blogged every day since a few weeks after I started. In May of 2015, we photographed our last wedding. Now, I have become passionate about simplicity, particularly in marriage, Christianity, business, travel and life. For a number of reasons, we have become minimalists. I’ve found that having simplicity makes life so much deeper, refreshing and joyful. I hope that this blog will help others see the benefits of living simply.

Day 1490 – The Jennilyn Adrenaline – A Drink Based On Me

One of the nicknames I have earned over the years is Jennilyn Adrenaline. If you knew me in my teen/young adult years, I was a little crazy, not going to lie. I had the idea to create a drink based on this nickname. I tried a few combos that just didn’t work. Since we’re alcoholics, well prepared for vacation, we have a lot of different types of drinks.

Last night, we created the Jennilyn Adrenaline! It’s pretty tasty, but a little too sugary for a “drink all night” drink. But then again, the namesake of the drink can be a little much long term. πŸ˜‰

Here’s the breakdown:
1 part Rockstar Energy drink
1 part Peach Schnapps
1 part Blue Curacao
1 part Sweet and Sour mix

Day 1489 – Vacation!

We are currently on vacation! I plan on updating the blog every day, but we’ll see how that goes! πŸ˜‰ We are actually on vacation with previous clients! Tif has been a friend for over 20 years…which always makes me feel old to say! I am so excited to kick back and relax.

I didn’t realize how badly I needed a real vacation until yesterday. It has been a very full few months and I am more drained than I realized. I’m very much looking forward to chilling with good friends! We had such a blast just getting down here (which is a blog post in itself!) I know it will be a super great time.

I mean, look at the view.

Day 1486 – Today Is The Beginning Of Something Amazing

Whew! As you know, I just finished a business event. It was absolutely, positively life changing. I learned SO much and have already changed my mindset about SO many things! I cannot wait to see how the next few months go!

We had one thing come up at the event that we need to decide about. A big, scary decision. A “jump off the cliff and trust that it’s a good thing” decision. It’s crazy that we’re even considering this. I cannot believe we are! But, I think it will change our lives and will open up doors and opportunities we never could have dreamed up ourselves.

In thinking about this decision, we have already covered it in a TON of prayer, chats with friends and a bit of reading. I spent today outside, praying and reading. Here’s an awesome quote I wanted to share!

“He knows too that God is always wise, and, knowing this, he is confident that there can be no accidents, no mistakes; that nothing can occur which ought not to arise. He can say, “If I should lose all I have, it is better that I should lose than have, if God so wills: the worst calamity is the wisest and the kindest thing that could befall to me if God ordains it.” “We know that all things work together for good to them that love God.” The Christian does not merely hold this as a theory, but he knows it as a matter of fact. Everything has worked for good as yet; the poisonous drugs mixed in fit proportions have worked the cure; the sharp cuts of the lancet have cleansed out the proud flesh and facilitated the healing. Every event as yet has worked out the most divinely blessed results; and so, believing that God rules all, that he governs wisely, that he brings good out of evil, the believer’s heart is assured, and he is enabled calmly to meet each trial as it comes. The believer can in the spirit of true resignation pray, “Send me what thou wilt, my God, so long as it comes from thee; never came there an ill portion from thy table to any of thy children.”

‘Say not my soul,
From whence can God relieve my care?
Remember that Omnipotence
has servants everywhere.
His method is sublime,
his heart profoundly kind,
God never is before his time,
and never is behind.'”

From Morning and Evening by Charles Spurgeon

I can’t say quite yet what this big, new thing is, but know you’ll know soon!
