About 365 days of marriage

I started this blog in April of 2011. At the time, Bret and I were wedding photographers and it was a way to share how marriage is more about the day to day and so much more than the wedding day itself. For about 5 years, I blogged about the joys and sorrows of the Christian walk, marriage, work, family and friends. I’ve blogged every day since a few weeks after I started. In May of 2015, we photographed our last wedding. Now, I have become passionate about simplicity, particularly in marriage, Christianity, business, travel and life. For a number of reasons, we have become minimalists. I’ve found that having simplicity makes life so much deeper, refreshing and joyful. I hope that this blog will help others see the benefits of living simply.

Day 1480 – It’s About The Marriage To Us – or – 50 Years and 0 Years

The main reason I started this blog was because I wanted to share: about our marriage, about our client’s marriages, advice on marriage and generally to honor marriage.

We love photographing weddings. Photographing together just gets better and better (like our marriage).

We love getting to know our clients and sharing in the joy of beginning a marriage.

On Saturday, we had the honor of taking a very special photograph. There was a couple at the wedding who was celebrating their 50 year anniversary THAT day. What a beautiful picture of marriage and life. A couple who has been around the block many times in their marriage, who clearly still loved each other deeply standing next to a young couple at the beginning of their marriage.

Billy and Stacey, my deepest wish for you is that you make it to 50 years just as happy and in love. πŸ™‚

Day 1479 – Wedding Wire World In DC

Today I spent ALL day in DC working on my business.

I had seen some emails about Wedding Wire World, had a few conversations about going, but never bought tickets. I even made a comment like, “well, we’re going to Vegas to the Wedding MBA in October…so do we really want to spend the money? Well, maybe if it’s $50….oh…it is $50 (during one sale)? Well….I dunno.” A few weeks ago, they had a contest to win tickets, and I signed up…thinking, well, probably won’t happen, but yay if it does.

When I was catching up on emails after house sitting, I got an email saying I won tickets! Me and a guest! I called my dear friend Bridget from K&B Bridals/Moore & Co. Event Stylists and said you WON’T believe it! I won the tickets! Want to go!

Looking back, I know all those conversations were God prompting us to go! I don’t know why we question Him so much.

Anyways! So today was the event! What a great time. We learned sooooo much that we can apply to our businesses immediately. There were sessions on sales, emails, blogging and more. I am so blessed that I got the opportunity to go and learn so much.

Hopefully you see some bigger and better things from us soon! πŸ™‚

Funny story about this sign! The bride’s name is Stacey, the groom’s name is Billy and his last name is Scott. This is what was on the sign!

Bret’s always thinking about the next shot!

I had to zoom in close for the shoe shot because Stacey’s daughter was very interested in what I was doing! πŸ™‚

Day 1476 – A First For A Rehearsal Dinner – A Food Truck! – Harford County Food Truck

Last night, I experienced a first for a rehearsal dinner…a food truck! The bride had eaten at the WOLO Food Truck several times before and HAD to have them at her rehearsal dinner. She had mentioned some of the foods and I was equally as excited!

I was NOT disappointed! Oh my gosh, almost 24 hours later and I’m STILL full! So so so good! It was an amazing spread of food, I can’t wait to come visit the red truck in Harford County and beyond!

Here’s a few pictures of the gorgeous food!
