About 365 days of marriage

I started this blog in April of 2011. At the time, Bret and I were wedding photographers and it was a way to share how marriage is more about the day to day and so much more than the wedding day itself. For about 5 years, I blogged about the joys and sorrows of the Christian walk, marriage, work, family and friends. I’ve blogged every day since a few weeks after I started. In May of 2015, we photographed our last wedding. Now, I have become passionate about simplicity, particularly in marriage, Christianity, business, travel and life. For a number of reasons, we have become minimalists. I’ve found that having simplicity makes life so much deeper, refreshing and joyful. I hope that this blog will help others see the benefits of living simply.

Day 1655 – Snow Day!

Me, along with many others on the east coast, got a snow day today. Being a business owner, I don’t exactly get snow days, unless I give them. But I just booked a job last night, so I decided I could take it easy today…which I did…though, it wasn’t totally intended. Oops! πŸ™‚ I just found myself working slower and slower as they day went on….hence the blog post at 7 p.m. instead of 10 a.m.

So, how do we celebrate this snow day? Why, re-sharing my favorite “Bret in the snow” picture!

Day 1653 – The Best Mexican Restaurant In Tulare, California

On the way to our new years eve celebration at Bret’s cousin’s, we stopped for a beer.

I tried to find a place and where we arrived…it wasn’t a restaurant….or anything. So, we kept driving and found a little place called Alejandra’s Mexican Restaurant in Tulare, California.

We sat down, ordered our beers and started chatting. A little while later, we started chatting with our waitress. Come to find out it was the end of her shift on a day off. She came in to just help out. We then talked about life, money and work for about 15 minutes. What was really awesome about this was that the manager/owner came by to give us more salsa and chips and just to check on us a few times. He never “gave her a talking to.” This was really refreshing to see! Granted, she was technically “off.” But I know other managers would have looked down on this. I felt like I was hanging out with a friend and it was a very friendly environment. It was also really cool to see the manager/owner helping out. That speaks VOLUMES to Bret and I. I know we’ll be stopping by the next time we’re in town visiting Bret’s family. πŸ™‚

Day 1652 – Where Are They Now? – The Dufours

The last stop on our cross country drive was The Dufours! What are they up to now? Welp, they live down south AND are also expecting a baby!!! So happy for them!!!

They very graciously allowed us to stay the night at their home! It was so nice to sleep in a real bed after being in the car for 24 hours! Whew! We had a great chat after we arrived…keeping them up a few hours past their bed time…oops! In the morning we had a lovely breakfast! I HAD to take the ring shot with this cup! πŸ™‚ We have the BEST clients!
