Day 3344 – A Book That Has Changed My Money Mindset And My Life – You Are a Badass at Making Money – Read A New Book Month Day 7

I’ve read You Are a Badass at Making Money: Master the Mindset of Wealth* by Jen Sincero three times as of the writing of this post. I listened to the audiobook each time and I have to say, Jen is a fantastic audiobook reader. To hear the author explain her work is really, really helpful. It doesn’t hurt that she’s absolutely hysterical.

This book helped me to look at money and myself differently. It showed me that SO many more things are possible in my life and that they are within my grasp. This book helped to push me to try my hand at a new blog and caused me to see the value in purchasing a course bundle (which I might add has already made me money).

If you have struggles with how you view money, whether it’s “rich people are gross” or “I can’t afford it” this book will help you to see things in a different light, and begin to look at yourself differently. I have already seen changes in myself, Bret (who has read it twice), and a good friend who is on her second read. This book also reminds me that just one suggestion can change multiple lives. Never negate the power of your words.

Day 3343 – The Spark And The Grind – A Book To Help You Focus On Both Aspects Of Creating – Read A New Book Month Day 5

I first heard about Erik Wahl, the author of The Spark and the Grind: Ignite the Power of Disciplined Creativity* in Unmistakable, which I talked about yesterday. His story is really incredible and what he does is something I want to see in person someday (look him up, it’s worth the rabbit hole).

This book was an amazing look at how both aspects of creation are so important – finding your spark but also putting in the work to bring those ideas to light. As someone who creates every day, this was an incredibly helpful read. Whether you create words or photos or works of art or reports or whatever it is that you create, you will find something to help you in your pursuits.

Day 3342 – Unmistakable: Why Only Is Better Than Best – A Book To Help You Embrace You – Read A New Book Month Day 4

I read Unmistakable: Why Only Is Better Than Best* by Srinivas Rao last spring. The whole idea of the book is that being only is so much better than best. You want your work to be unmistakable. This book lead me to another book that is a top recommend and since I loved Unmistakable so much, I’ve been following the author. He just released a new book and I have a very good feeling that it will end up on my list of recommends. When a book can readjust your mindset within the first few pages, you know it’s going to be good.

This quote from Unmistakable really sums up my life and how I choose to live and work.

“We become so indoctrinated, it’s as if we’ve been institutionalized. We forget that our life is what we make of it. Only when we have the audacity to question the status quo can we disrupt it.”

If you need a little (or big) jump start in your life, I highly recommend this book.

Day 3341 – Dragons Love Tacos & Dragons Love Tacos 2 – Books That Bring Joy – Read A New Book Month Day 3

Last year, the year of the kid’s books (I read 200 different children’s books), I found so many amazing books and I will be sharing a few of them this month. The first two I want to talk about is Dragons Love Tacos* and Dragons Love Tacos 2: The Sequel* by Adam Rubin (Author) & Daniel Salmieri (Illustrator).

If there is one thing I would recommend to aspiring readers or seasoned readers who are looking to up their game, it would be to read more children’s books. While some folks might say these books “don’t count” I found they would bring simplicity to difficult things or, as in the case of this book, such amazing creativity to life that it inspires me to seek more creativity in my life.

Imagine, if you will, that dragons cannot handle salsa beyond mild, what would happen if they accidentally ate it? There begins the truly fun journey of these books. I found myself laughing SO much while reading these books, they stand as a top recommendation as kid’s books, and ones that I want to share.

Day 3340 – A Book That Changed My Mindset On Business (And Travel) Completely – The 4-Hour Workweek – Read A New Book Month Day 2

I first read The 4-Hour Workweek* back in the summer of 2014. I wrote a post about how it was the catalyst to me eventually closing my photography business, funny enough, three years ago today.

As I was reading through The Third Door, The 4-Hour Workweek came up a few times. I have heard from countless other folks, whether through an in-person conversation, a social media post, an article, or a book, that this book has had a profound effect on them. If so many people are saying this, honestly, why haven’t you read this yet?

It completely changed how I viewed work, income, and truly, what it costs for my dream life to be a reality. I recommend this book* to anyone who is looking to change in their business or life.
