About 365 days of marriage

I started this blog in April of 2011. At the time, Bret and I were wedding photographers and it was a way to share how marriage is more about the day to day and so much more than the wedding day itself. For about 5 years, I blogged about the joys and sorrows of the Christian walk, marriage, work, family and friends. I’ve blogged every day since a few weeks after I started. In May of 2015, we photographed our last wedding. Now, I have become passionate about simplicity, particularly in marriage, Christianity, business, travel and life. For a number of reasons, we have become minimalists. I’ve found that having simplicity makes life so much deeper, refreshing and joyful. I hope that this blog will help others see the benefits of living simply.

Day 1551 – I’ve Had A Lot Of Adventures In The Last Few Weeks You Don’t Know About

I dog sat one of the cutest dogs ever.

I found my FAVORITE nacho cheese in America (they don’t sell it in Maryland…or at least I haven’t found it yet!)

Finally saw old Vegas! Besides the overwhelming smell of smoke, this was really really fun.

Oh and had a few drinks that were the size of my head…

Day 1549 – Home Again After A Week In Vegas – Wedding MBA Conference

Ah, so great to be home! I’ve been away for about two weeks now. We house sat for friends for a few days and then I went to Vegas for the Wedding MBA conference. It was a great conference learning how to better my business and myself, specialized for wedding vendors. I already have a list of action items I can implement pretty much immediately. I’m SO excited and SO energized. Grateful for the time away….but soooo thankful to be home, sleep in my own bed and hit the ground running with my business.

I may or may not do a long blog post about all of my adventures (if you’re interested, let me know and I will!) but for now, I wanted to share some pics from a night of TWO vendor parties. The first was sponsored by The Knot.

Then we hopped a cab for another party sponsored by WeddingWire!!

The view was INSANE!

Day 1547 – Planning Your Wedding In Baltimore Maryland – Day Of Coordinating

Let me paint a picture for you.

You’ve spent thousands upon thousands of dollars on your wedding. You’ve spent countless hours planning the perfect day for you. Your blood, sweat and tears are in this wedding. Your fingers still hold scars from the DIY centerpieces. Let us not forget the super detailed timeline you created weeks ago for the day. AND you picked out the perfect linens for the tables!

But, on the day of your wedding, the centerpieces never made it out to the tables…they might still be in the trunk of your car…your Aunt Molly was in charge of that, but she hadn’t seen Aunt Betty in so long, she got caught up in catching up. Your Uncle Stan was going to help keep everyone in line for the day, but he was a little more interested in the open bar. And then, to top all this off, your caterer didn’t use the right linens!

I would HATE for something like this to happen to you. What can you do about it? Hire a day of coordinator of course! (Moore & Co. Event Stylists do this!)

You might be thinking you can just use your friends and family day of…and sometimes this works out…but, at the end of the day, you want your friends and family to be able to relax and enjoy the day too! You’ve put in SO much work, it’s really worth hiring a day of coordinator! Having someone to step in and have copies of your contracts and be able to say, “um, caterer, this linen is wrong…fix it.” Is pretty priceless.

This ends our wedding planning series. I hope you’ve learned something that will help you plan your own wedding. If you have any questions, or corrections, let me know!

I’ll leave you with something that Moore & Co. styled and executed at our style shoot. 🙂
