About 365 days of marriage

I started this blog in April of 2011. At the time, Bret and I were wedding photographers and it was a way to share how marriage is more about the day to day and so much more than the wedding day itself. For about 5 years, I blogged about the joys and sorrows of the Christian walk, marriage, work, family and friends. I’ve blogged every day since a few weeks after I started. In May of 2015, we photographed our last wedding. Now, I have become passionate about simplicity, particularly in marriage, Christianity, business, travel and life. For a number of reasons, we have become minimalists. I’ve found that having simplicity makes life so much deeper, refreshing and joyful. I hope that this blog will help others see the benefits of living simply.

Day 1910 – The Time I Was Kidnapped And Wrote My Own Ransom Note

Yesterday I was kidnapped and had to write my own ransom note.

Here are the contents of the note which was left on Bret’s truck for him to find me:

Dear Sir,

Do not be alarmed, but we have stolen your wife. We found out that you left her without a vehicle in her state of need, when she needed to go out with friends to the bar.

Since we are loving and not heartless, we have remedied the situation.

If you ever want to see your wife again, follow the enclosed directions and join us in merriment.

Regards,

Day 1909 – How Is The New Reading Plan Going?

So we started our reading plan on Friday night of last week. Up until this morning, we’ve only missed one evening!

I’ve noticed we talk more about deeper things; the more important things. We had a GREAT conversation last night about witnessing after reading the Duck Commander devotional. This particular day was by Uncle Si. It’s awesome to me that they’re using the platform of the show to share Christ!

We’ve been slow to anger with each other and have been encouraging to work on continuing struggles. While this isn’t a “get great marriage quick” scheme, it has certainly helped us.

How about you? How are your devotions going with your spouse?

And since it’s Thursday, here’s one of us in 2008….when my hair had a mind of its own.
