About 365 days of marriage

I started this blog in April of 2011. At the time, Bret and I were wedding photographers and it was a way to share how marriage is more about the day to day and so much more than the wedding day itself. For about 5 years, I blogged about the joys and sorrows of the Christian walk, marriage, work, family and friends. I’ve blogged every day since a few weeks after I started. In May of 2015, we photographed our last wedding. Now, I have become passionate about simplicity, particularly in marriage, Christianity, business, travel and life. For a number of reasons, we have become minimalists. I’ve found that having simplicity makes life so much deeper, refreshing and joyful. I hope that this blog will help others see the benefits of living simply.

Day 2406 – HELP! I Need You Readers!

I’m quickly approaching the 5 year anniversary of this blog (WHAT?!?!) and I’m also fresh off of a great wedding vendor/marketing/business conference….so obviously, my brain is spinning. When I started this blog, it was more about reaching current and future brides. It was pulling back the curtain on our marriage and letting clients in. Since we left photography, it has gone through a few changes. I was thinking how I said I wanted this blog to be helping more marriages last “til death do us part.” I guess some of my fun/random/nothing interesting happened posts show that sometimes marriage can be “mundane.” But I want to do something bigger. I really do want to impact other marriages.

So! I need you to tell me what you want to read about. What are your favorite topics that I talk about? What do you want to hear more about?

Take a second to answer my poll! Please share with your married and soon to be married friends.

Thanks!

Day 2404 – Do You Actually Living In The Moment?

Today, Bret was supposed to work and I was supposed to go to the first day of WeddingWire World in DC. A few days back, we learned of some snow. This morning, schools were closed. I assumed that if schools were closed, it wouldn’t be super wise to attempt to attend the conference. So, we put on our PJs and settled in for a snow day. But here’s something I have to admit – I sometimes really suck at living in the moment. I found myself thinking – I should’ve gone to the conference and I should be doing other things. But there was this voice that kept saying, live in the moment, enjoy this time with Bret. So I did some work, turned off my computer screen and we walked to Dunkin’. We had a chat and then grabbed some snacks. At home, we made a pile of books and snuggled up in our boat made out of chairs. I’m so glad for the time with my hubby and I hope that my future self thanks me for trying to let go of what I think I have to do and living in the moment.

Day 2403 – Big Shout Out To MADD

Saturday night, Bret went with some friends to watch a fight. It was about 2 hours away, so that meant I had about 8-10 hours at home alone. I spent the evening playing video games, but also reading and finishing Still Alice. I have to say, it was a fantastic book. I watched the movie yesterday and I was pretty happy with how well it stuck to the book.

As I was siting there reading, I remembered that I had some left over fake wine from the snowstorm. It’s a wine made by MADD. I’ve had almost all of the varieties of virgin drinks that they make and I’m very happy with all of them! The Rouge wine is THE best virgin wine I’ve found! Most of them just taste like grape juice, this reminds me of a glass of wine. As someone who will never drink again, but also misses a glass of wine, this is a fantastic product! Their virgin margaritas are simply heavenly! So thank you MADD for filling this need. πŸ™‚
