A few weeks ago, I went to Krispy Kreme on my way home from work. On that visit, I Facetimed with Bret eating a doughnut. Looking back, that was a little mean. But we like to share joy with each other.
Yesterday, Bret had an appointment near a new, much closer Krispy Kreme. I texted him joking about not minding if he stopped by and got doughnuts. He did stop. He ordered a half dozen regular doughnuts. When his order was called, they tried to give him a dozen. He’s like, thanks, but I only ordered half. He sat down with his doughnuts, and really enjoyed the time, watching the sunset and listening to Elvis playing. His original plan was to eat 3 and give me the other 3 when he got back. But he was enjoying himself so much, so he said YOLO, and ate a fourth, deciding to get another half dozen. He then texted me this picture, saying Ooops.
At this point he ordered another half dozen. When he ordered more, they joked with him saying “Oh, you’re back?” He then told them the story of how I went to Krispy Kreme and didn’t wait for him. Then, when he went to pick up his order, again they wanted to give him a dozen. The employee actually gave him the whole dozen, saying, “you didn’t take the other one, when you could have, and since your wife didn’t wait for you last time.” So we now have a whole lot of doughnuts!
