Day 2058 – Unfettered Joy – or Childlike Faith

Yesterday, I found an old photo from my visit to Disneyland. It was when I was riding the teacups and just laughing with joy at how fast I was going. I swear I will be like a child until the day I die. But I don’t think this is a bad thing.

“At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:1-4

This verse gives my childlike heart such joy. On the outer layer, you can think, alright, being a kid is great, it’s ok to act like a kid. Wooo hoo!!!

But there is a much deeper, much harder truth to this. If we can strip away out “adult” minds and our “learned minds” and break life down to a simple, child like faith, we are asking ourselves to believe much.

Take away the big words and the big thoughts and our belief comes down to this:

We were created by God
We were bad (sinned)
God is good and can’t be with bad
Because God loves us, sent Jesus to pay for our bad
If we believe Jesus did that, we are good
When we are good, God does good for us
Everything that happens to us is for our good

I mean, think about the weight of that last statement and believing that like a child. There is no explaining it with big words, there is no deep thought. God says He works all things together for our good and we believe that. That’s it.

Oh Lord, let it be that my heart is ever simple and only focused on You.

And thanks for Disney, that was mighty nice of ya. 🙂

Day 1600 – I Don’t Think The Dog Will Let Me Work Today

We are house sitting for friends and I have a suspicion that their dogs do not want me to work.

– They are perfectly content sleeping in.
– When I started to work on the computer, one of the dogs, Charlie, kept scratching my knee.
– After Charlie was in my lap, he was content.
– When I attempted to read, Charlie thought that on top of my books was the perfect spot for a nap.
– Ollie “voiced” his opinion by snoring.

So, I have decided, no more work today! I’ll just snuggle up with my coffee, the cutest lap dogs ever and wait for Bret to get home from school so we can do no work together. 🙂

Day 1374 – Nothing Too Exciting Happened Today…

So, Friday I worked about 4 hours, Saturday, I worked about 15 hours, Sunday I worked about 8 hours. By today, I was tired! I took a long nap last night and then slept somewhat in this morning.

For the rest of the day, I’m not going to lie, I really didn’t do anything! I mean, I cleaned up my desk, went through my emails, did a little blogging. But otherwise, I watched Lost and played games. I edited a few of the bridal show pics, but didn’t finish. It was a fantastic day!!! Boy did I need the rest and relaxation!

Day 1303 – Anything Is Possible or Bret Has Changed or GO RAVENS!

As you may or may not know, my dear hubby is from California. In 2011, we scored some tickets to the Thanksgiving Day Ravens vs. 49ers game. When I found out the team, I said, oh CRAP! You’re going to be cheering for the 49ers, just because. He likes to stir up trouble that one! After I said this here was our conversation (slightly paraphrased, since it was over a year ago):

“Jen, how do Ravens fans feel about the Steelers?”
“Well, it’s not pretty…”
“That’s how the Raiders feel about the 49ers. I could never go for the 49ers.”
“Ok then!”

So thankfully, he cheered for the Ravens at the game.

Two weeks ago, we went out to watch the Ravens vs. Patriots game. Check out what Bret was wearing….

I was planning on going through all my weddings and finding all the purple dress, flowers, etc. and doing a nice long post of pics…..yea, ha! Bret will have to be enough for ya’ll today.

GO RAVENS!

Day 1286 – Don’t Cry Bret

I had forgotten about this little gem. I took it when we were taking Bret’s profile pictures for his website. He carries a punching bag (on of the GIANT punching bags) and runs with it as a workout. He’s a beast, it’s ridiculous. But it works! Anyways, he must have dropped it a few too many times, because after the shoot, we noticed the bag was broken.

Bret was sad. 😦
