Day 1295 – My Workout Secrets Or Confessions Of A Personal Trainer’s Wife

As you know, my husband is now a personal trainer. It’s been an exciting journey so far, with him starting his business. I love giving him advice and being there for him. As I said the other day, I have a love/hate relationship with his business. He is a personal trainer, which leads someone to think…the wife HAS to look good! So I have been VERY mindful of my actions in terms of what I eat and how often I workout.

I also mentioned in the post above that I would give tips and that’s what I’m going to do now!

First, check out my Pinterest board on this topic. There are some AWESOME workouts there and some I will mention here.

One thing that I think makes a difference is I drink a LOT of water! I have a cup that I got on the last day I was in Vegas for the Wedding MBA in 2011.

Enter water mug stage left:

To the capacity, it fits 4 cups of water. Which is 32 ounces of water. They say you should have 64 ounces of water. I normally fill it to about 2 1/2-3 cups of water. If I set this crazy mug on my desk, I will drink it dry in about 30-60 minutes. Now, this is just me. You might need a different container. Or you might need to add a little lemon or other flavor. But I LOVE my skull mug. I’ll normally refill it a few times a day. Water is HUGE in your lifestyle change. Funny story, when I bought this mug, it was filled with a margarita. 🙂

Ok, important note here…..”lifestyle change.” It’s not a diet. It’s not about working out every day. It’s all in how you view things.

Now, I actually work out almost every day. I’ve been doing a lot of the workouts I’ve pinned in the board above. So the last few days have looked like this….

Monday – 4 minute workout (actually EIGHT! minute workout!)
Tuesday – All-over abs workout
Wednesday – All over body workout
Thursday – Countdown workout
Friday – Treadmill workout – self-made – 1 mile, 11:17 mins. Basically, I would do about 8.0-6.0 then 3.0 on “breaks” every 30-60 seconds.

It’s funny, at first I thought, shesh, I can’t work out every day! But that’s exactly what I’ve been doing!

These little Pinterest workouts have been so awesome! They’re fast, they’re changing up everyday….which I think is key….what works best for you, and going with it.

And here we are, kind of working out together…

Day 1286 – Don’t Cry Bret

I had forgotten about this little gem. I took it when we were taking Bret’s profile pictures for his website. He carries a punching bag (on of the GIANT punching bags) and runs with it as a workout. He’s a beast, it’s ridiculous. But it works! Anyways, he must have dropped it a few too many times, because after the shoot, we noticed the bag was broken.

Bret was sad. 😦

Day 1273 – Gaitan Personal Training – It’s Official, My Hubby Is A Business Owner!!

Ok, can I first just say….how cool is my hubby?

After two days of staying up until 3 a.m. (or later*), Bret has his web presence!!

Let me share a few quotes from his page (ha, talk about an easy blog day!)

“I love helping other people make positive changes in their lives. But there are so many trainers and programs out there, it might seem overwhelming deciding who to go with. Let me tell you, I might not be right for you. Come on a walking consultation with me and we can decide if I am right for you. It’s free, you get good conversation, a little exercise, and if I’m not right for you, I might be able to direct you to a trainer who is.”

“I love using practical training to help real people make real results. You don’t have to have experience working out and going to gyms. In fact, there is so much bad information out there, you might be better of not having experience in exercise and gyms. Have you noticed how trends in fitness constantly change? Let me tell you what hasn’t changed recently: the human body. Fitness should be achieved using practical and natural movements. I don’t care who you are, or what your experience and abilities are, I can find a way to work with you to help you lose fat, gain muscle, and just generally improve your health.”

A few of his qualifications and achievements…..which I’m glad I can share! My husband is a truly humble man and doesn’t like to “toot his own horn” but he is in amazing shape and has done some really cool things. So, HA! I can finally share!

  • “Cross-country (I have competed nationally multiple times and achieved All-American status)”
  • “Track and Field events (I have competed nationally multiple times and was a member of a relay team that broke a national record)”
  • “I continuously achieved the highest possible score in the Marine Corps’ physical Fitness test, and on multiple occasions received the award for having the highest physical fitness score of the units I served in.”

So, go check out all he’s doing!
