Day 1378 – I Felt Like A Teenager Again

Tonight I spent the night at my friend Mel’s with our friend Katie. Mel is the maid of honor for our friend Tif and we’re throwing her a surprise shower tomorrow (note: writing this post from the future, so it won’t mess up the surprise)! We spent most of the evening prepping food, chatting about life and drinking wine (hence the picture below).

It was so great to catch up with old friends (I’m talkin’ years and years!) It made me feel like I was a teenager again, chatting about life and boys, sleeping over and all….the only difference was I wasn’t drinking wine when I was teenager. 🙂

So, the lesson here is this….don’t wait too long to catch up with your friends. 🙂

Day 1339 – Catch Up Day And Us With Mr. & Mrs. Murphy!

Holy smokes, what a weekend! Saturday we shot the Murphy wedding. We stayed up SOOOO late Saturday night! I intended to download the images and post a sneak peek. By 2 a.m. I just couldn’t stay up any longer. Now, realize, it was technically 3 a.m.! Yikes! To add to the crazy, it was our Sunday to serve on the coffee team, which means we had to get up at 7 a.m.! It wasn’t too bad though, we were just really tired! Church was great, then I got to hang out with Mr. & Mrs. Hotte and share their wedding images! Such a great time! I truly feel like one of the family. I look forward to a long friendship with them AND their family!

I came home and did a little work, then kicked back to watch some of my favorite Sunday night shows…Once Upon A Time and The Walking Dead. I think it was THE best episode of Once Upon A Time so far. GREAT show!

Today, I let myself sleep in. AMAZING! I LOVE having flexibility in my schedule and sleeping habits. I’m really not a schedule oriented person….one day I can work a 14 hour day into the early hours of the morning….a few days later, I’m up early and working until the afternoon. What works for me this month will probably be different next month. So! Being able to control my schedule according to what works that day is just fantastic. I was also thinking about how I don’t dread Mondays any more. My “work week” is so different than the 9-5 work week. Mondays are like my Saturday. Saturdays are like my Monday (sort of).

Anyways, I ramble! So, here’s a shot of us with the newly married Mr. & Mrs. Murphy!!!!

Day 1333 – Hot Topic – Do We Drink At Weddings?

I don’t know how many of my potential and current clients actually ask this question…but I’m still going to address it.

When we shot the wedding on Saturday, both of us were offered drinks a few times. I can totally understand this! We strive to be great friends with our clients, their wedding party and family. I think the fact that we are offered drinks means that our clients feel comfortable with us. I have no doubt that every client who has offered truly would not care if we did drink. But 95% of the time, we choose to not drink during the day. The 5% of the time that we have had a drink it has ONLY been in the last 15 minutes of the evening or after we are officially off the clock. So, feel free to offer us a drink! We’ll politely decline until the end of the day!

On Saturday, we were very graciously invited to the after party at the bride’s parents’ house. We had such a blast kicking back, leaving our cameras packed up and enjoying the company of our AMAZING clients!

Now, you may be wondering why I would write a post like this. You might be thinking, um, Jen, OF COURSE you won’t drink at a wedding! And you’re right. It’s easy to explain this when it comes up at a wedding. I’ve never addressed it before because of that reason.

BUT, at the rehearsal for this same wedding, at the nearly very end, the groom ordered a number of shots. There was an extra one and he turned around and offered it to Bret. Since it was almost time to go, I said, what the hey! I, of course, got photographic evidence…and it it one of my favorite pictures of Bret. 🙂
