Day 1363 – Roadtrippin’ In Maryland or Oh The Irony!

Today, the plan was to drop off Rebekah Thorsett’s wedding album at K&B Bridals and Event Planning (She’s one of their planners now!) and then drive up to Anne Marie Baumann’s to drop off her wedding album.

I was chatting with Bridget (owner of K&B and a dear friend) for a little while and mentioned I had Anne Marie’s album (all of the Baumann attire was bought/rented through K&B!) Bridget said, oh wow, she was JUST here!!! Now, normally, this would just be a funny set of events…..but it was more ironic because Anne Marie lives about an hour away from K&B! Ooops!

While it would have been easy to get mad about all of the additional driving (that I was planning on doing anyway!) but I saw it as an adventure! On the way home I stopped by the Flying J out in North East. I felt like I was driving cross country with Bret again! Ah, such good memories. I’m not going to lie, there was a part of me that almost turned around and went to the beach! I love random adventures. 🙂

Day 1353 – Thank God For Snow Days!!!

Today, it snowed. It’s still snowing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen snow this late in the year! I realized either today or last night that all the weird weather started when Bret got here…we had those two big snow years back to back…then no snow….and now weird spring snows. I’m blaming it all on Bret. But, I was SOOOOO thankful for the snow today!

So, my Sunday was just a little crazy. I attended church and heard an AMAZING sermon about palm Sunday. There were things about Christ’s triumphal entry that I never knew and it made me so much more thankful about how God is in control of all the details, big and small, in our lives. I’ll try and blog about that another day, but if I don’t, just ask me!! 🙂

At church, I met with one of my grooms (I love photographing my church family!) and we finalized his contract.

Had a little time to kill so I got to read a bit of my current fiction I’m reading.

Then I went to a going away party for a few hours. I got to see a TON of people I haven’t seen in a long time. It was such a sweet time. 🙂

I took a quick break at Panera Bread to update my blog (it feels soooooo good to be caught up finally!)

Then I drove up to Elkton to meet with a couple, who booked me on the spot thank you very much! 🙂

THEN I drove back down to Bel Air to deliver the Rupert album at about 9 at night!

I was so tired when I got home, but I was able to stay up to finish the third round of the contest….which has been super successful by the way! I’m so thankful for the contestants and their friends and family!

Unfortunately, I got a bad night sleep…which was not good because I had a breakfast meeting with some of my favorite vendors. It was so hard to get up this morning! I got up in time to go but didn’t think it would be wise…being so tired and driving in the snow (which I don’t think is too bad driving wise…) But got a text that it was rescheduled.

No joke, I went back to bed. I have no shame in saying I slept a good long while after that. I can’t remember the last time I slept in! Ahhhh. I feel so rest and so ready to take on the week! I only have about 4 things on my calendar this week and I am very thankful for that! Keep a look out for all the updates/new things I do!! 🙂

Day 1283 – Amazing Customer Service At A Hunt Valley Movie Theater

Tonight I went to the movies at the Regal in Hunt Valley with my brother Josh. In the middle of the movie, one of the other viewers was, um, well….shoot, I’ll just say it…he was freakin’ wasted dude. It took a little while to get him removed, for various reasons. But after the movie, we went to the manager and he gave us free movie passes for the disturbance. I just wanted to share how great they were. Normally, when you watch the whole movie without complaining, they don’t do anything for you….since you watched it, you know? But it was a three hour movie, so we didn’t want to get up and then have to start it over again. So we were just SO grateful for how they handled it.

If you’re in the area, they’re a great theater! 🙂

And since I obviously didn’t take my camera, I didn’t have a picture to relate to this post….so here’s my penguin soap. Poor little guy is still stuck in there, but we hope to get him out soon!

Day 1152 – Bret’s Musings on the Most Inspiring Thing He Saw in Texas

“Hi again everyone! I want to tell about an inspiring experience I had while in Texas. The last race of the race day was a 15k, which is 9.3 miles. During the race, it started pouring. The dirt in that part of Texas is mainly clay, so when it gets wet, it’s a mess. So, not only had it rained pretty well the night before, it got even worse. It was bad: windy, slippery, dark skies, and a bunch of lightning and thunder. It was so bad in fact that almost everyone at the race, runners and workers left the event before half of the runners from the last race were done. But it was the lady in last place that impressed me. She was probably at least 30 minutes behind the next person, basically, a long way back there.

Now, usually we start cleaning up during the last race, but not this time. Everyone that was left, which was mainly a few workers and vendors, and the family of this lady, were huddled under a tent, futilely trying to stay dry, eating to pass the time, while they waited for her to come to the finish. Since it was pouring, there wasn’t much work we could do, or wanted to for that matter. So, I started driving a four wheeler around the course, picking up the cups from the water stations. As I caught up to the lady, I yelled, “You are awesome!” She laughed and replied, “Well, I can’t not finish at this point.” At that point, I think she was about 2 miles from finishing. Also at that point, I think every other runner was done. What also really impressed me was that a guy was walking with her. I don’t know if he was her boyfriend or husband, but I was really happy to see a guy supporting his girl like that. Much of the time she was walking, but she did run some, and I know that she was still doing some of the obstacles.

To tell you how bad it was out there, after I dropped off the trash and came to the tent that everyone was huddled under, they applauded me for being out there. I was a little embarrassed. As I started eating a turkey leg, the lady approached the last obstacle just before the finish line. I was so impressed by her determination that I wanted to run and finish with her. So, I caught up to her, gave her a high five, crawled through the last mud pit, and finished the race with her. Everyone who runs it gets a dog tag that, I think says Rebel Race, but in my opinion, she already had the best reward. Honestly, I was more impressed with her determination and perseverance than that of the person that finished first. In fact, you know what? I don’t even remember who finished first. But I do remember the lady that didn’t give up.”
