Day 3324 – A Clean Slate In My Reading Journey

Today, I finished book #114 in my year-long 300 book reading challenge with myself. I still have a ways to go, but having a nice, new blank sheet to fill in is super exciting.

One thing that has helped me in my reading each day is actually tracking how much I read. On the days where I think I didn’t read much, it shows me that I read more than I thought. I love the vast variety of my books read so far this year, the ones I’m working through now, and the ones on my TBR list. Ah friends, when you find something that makes you come alive, chase it.

Day 3323 – A Painful Reminder Of The Importance Of Watching What You Consume

This week I’ve had a painful reminder of the importance of being very careful about your consumption habits. For our trip to MA, I purchased a 12 pack of a generic soda. I’ve had this soda before and I’ve had soda on road trips before. But for some reason on this trip, my stomach was NOT a fan. It took me a few days to definitely pinpoint the soda as the tummy upsetter because we ate SO much food from so many different places. In a lot of ways, I’m so thankful for this reminder. The practical takeaway is to not drink that much soda. I typically might have 1-2 sodas and/or energy drinks a week. On the trip, I had 1-2+ per day. I really need to remind myself to NOT take sodas on a road trip. I might test out iced tea on the next trip. I’d still get a bit of caffeine and it would be somewhere healthier.

As I was thinking through this, I realized that while this was an obviously physical reminder of how what you consume impacts you, it was also a reminder that what I see, read, and hear impacts me as well. If I spend my time around others who talk poorly about marriage, or watch movies where marriage is disrespected, or even making cheating ok, it has an impact on my marriage. I will treat my husband with less respect and potentially entertain thoughts of cheating. Knowing this, I am very vigilant about what I consume about marriage.

If I’m spending my days watching videos that are positive reminders to business owners, encouraging me to keep working, and showing me examples of others who HAVE done it before me, I am much more energized in my work.

So even though it hasn’t been a fun few days with an upset tummy, it’s been a great reminder of how one little thing can have a huge impact on my entire life.

Day 3320 – Seeing John Williams Live – or – Major Bucket List Item Done

After months of planning and thinking about it – I have seen John Williams, live and in person. I can now say that I have heard the Star Wars theme song played by its composer. That is a really awesome thing to say. I can’t wait to print out the pictures as a reminder that you can set a goal and make it happen.

It was a whirlwind trip, for sure, and I’ll write more about all the specifics later, but for today, let me share about the concert itself.

We arrive a bit later than we planned because we made a number of stops and got caught in really bad traffic. But we still found a decent spot, after moving a few times.

I loved the layout of this venue. The inside was really neat and open, and the grounds were huge. The photo above doesn’t do the distance justice. We were maybe in the front 20% of the lawn.

Oh man, it was a rainy night! We had ponchos and they really helped to keep us dry, but at times it was almost torrential and you can’t really not get wet with only ponchos.

It was hard to get a good night photo, but I love how it looks like he’s a projection on the right screen.

All in all, it was a wonderful evening, and one that I will remember always. If you’re ever up in the Lenox area, try and catch a show at Tanglewood/Koussevitzky Music Shed.

Have you ever been?
