Day 2053 – When Life Gives You A Car Fire, You Get Yourself A Cup Of Coffee

I only had one thing on my to-do list today…well, that HAD to be done today….return some books to the library and mail an album and a few DVDs. As I’m driving up to the post office, I see some dark smoke floating around. Hmmm, I wonder if there’s actually a fire? Weird.

As I pull around the curve and go to turn into the parking lot, I see the source of the smoke. Holy smokes! It’s a CAR ON FIRE! Sitting right in the middle of the parking lot in front of the post office, was a car totally engulfed in flames. I parked the car (my mom’s) and thought, hmmm, I guess I can still run into the post office and return my books….but then I thought, you know, those books can return themselves later and I can go to another post office.

So after a little detour, I’ve sent my mail and am about to go home. Now, let’s talk about a little quirk I have….I HATE left hand turns…especially on busy roads. I honestly will reroute my whole trip based around left hand turns…or lights. A further sidenote, when Bret and I were searching for a place to eat last night, he was commenting about making a few right hand turns…and said, wow, you have rubbed off on me!

Anyways (shut up rambling Jennilyn!), I thought, well, I don’t feel like making a left, so let’s go right and get some Dunkin’ Donuts!

I now have a delicious cup of coffee and three donuts.

So, even if there’s a metaphoric car on fire in your day, just grab a cup of coffee. 🙂

Day 2048 – I Am Not Superwoman….I’m Batman

Yesterday was tough my friends. Really tough. I am so independent and have such a problem with control and pride. Being forced to stay in bed all day and night was so hard. But it reminded me of purposeful thankfulness – which I think is basically getting really, really specific with your thankfulness. Being thankful for your eyes to see, gas in your car, a job to pay for gas in the car, a roof over your head, etc.. Being stuck in bed for about 36 hours made me thankful for a few things…

– That most of the time I am able to walk with ease.
– That I have running water and live in a home with multiple bathrooms (this was probably one that my family was more thankful for yesterday…)
– That God is gracious and merciful and allows me to have full mobility most of the time.
– That it’s not the end of the world if I can’t work a day.
– That I have someone who loves me so much he’ll spend some of his snow day taking care of me.
– That if nothing else, I’m Batman. 🙂

Day 2045 – A Great Restaurant Rebrand/Upgrade

Sorry for the backdating of this post. I do feel bad if I fall behind in my posts and have to post a few back to back. Ah well, if you follow my blog, you probably don’t mind. 🙂

So! Today we started off our mini-trip going to Chili’s. We haven’t been in a really, really long time…but boy were we missing out! They have a new tablet on every table that totally blew our minds. You can reorder drinks, order desserts, pay your bill (even down to splitting the tab!) AND play games! Bret and I did really well on Plants Vs. Zombies! After we left, Bret commented on how it seemed so fast from the time of ordering our food to when we got it. We were really impressed!

Check out our Plants Vs. Zombies name. 🙂
