Day 3410 – Veterans Day – aka – Hug A Veteran Day – aka – One Of My Favorite Days Of The Year

A very happy Veterans Day to all the amazing Vets who read this! I love Veterans Day for a number of reasons. It gives me a chance to give a shout out to Bret for his service to our country. It’s also a day to give a shout out to all the Vets for their service.

And let’s be totally honest here, I love all the free food Bret can get! We typically go to several places for some freebies. But almost always end up getting super stuffed by the time we reach Olive Garden.

This year I noticed one restaurant was actually giving free food to spouses and parents too. Way to go McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurants, I mean, really! I don’t think we’ll make it out to you guys today, but it really means a lot that a place would be willing to give something to the spouses and parents too.

So, hug a Vet today. Thank them for their service. And if you’re lucky, tag along with one for not only some free food but a lot of businesses and people that will thank them too.

Day 3409 – Happy Birthday USMC!!

The Marines will always hold a very special place in my heart because, without them, I likely wouldn’t have met my husband.

In honor of their birthday, I wanted to share a photo of my then boyfriend, in his blues. Boy howdy, this was over ten years ago.

Day 3407 – Guinness World Record Day

To celebrate today, I wanted to give a shout out to my Guinness World Record holding hubby! I’m so proud of you. You worked so hard to accomplish this and most folks would have given up before the first attempt, and most would have definitely given up after the failed first attempt. But you kept going.

If you want to read all about Bret’s journey, you can find his story here. You can see it on Guinness’s website here.

And for fun, here’s me carrying him. Never fear, I will NOT be attempting this. lol, no more records here!

Day 3406 – How My Voting Has Changed – and – Wise Girl Scouts

All of my voting life, I’ve considered myself a Republican. I’m registered as one, and up until recently, voted Republican across the board, just because of their party affiliation. Yesterday, my ballot choices included candidates from every party, Republican, Democrat, and Libertarian.

I can see how my life experiences and the people I’ve met have shaped my change in voting habits. Now, instead of just blindly voting because someone is in my party, I look at what they say and plan to do, and vote accordingly. I love that this is possible in this country.

One thing that was really cool to see yesterday, was a girl scout troop that set up, in the pouring rain, to sell girl scout cookies. I couldn’t help but buy a box. They are going to be successful in life, I’m sure.
