Day 2684 – My Next Book Is About Cross Country Travel And I Need Your Help!

I’m very happy to report that I have finally made some major progress on my book! It has become more of a devotional than anything else. My manuscript with with an editor/reviewer as we speak! The next step is finding a cover designer (any recommendations, pass them my way!) and then all the copyrighting/ISBN etc business and you’ll be able to buy my book on Amazon! It’s so weird to be this close! Eeeep!

If you haven’t picked up yet, I’m big into dreaming and doing the next thing even while working on another. So! I already have my next book in the queue! I will be writing on cross country road trips! I’ve obviously got a ton of material to work with and a bunch of experience. Bonus – I LOVE to talk about it! Every few weeks, I’ll get a message from someone asking for tips. I end up putting in a good 30-45 minutes giving them advice….and it never feels that long. I’m really pumped to write this book!

Here’s how you can help me! Tell me your questions about planning a cross country trip. I want all your questions. Crazy questions, serious questions, questions you don’t know if you should ask or not.

Hopefully, it will inspire more people to go to places like this…

Day 2679 – Cutting Out Your Eye – or – How To Grow In Life

This morning, I listened to a message about this verse:
If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell.” Matthew 5:29 ESV

About two years ago, we started to take this verse seriously when we stopped watching anything with nudity. This was an area of our lives where we need to “cut out our eyes.” It’s not easy, it’s annoying as anything to get excited about watching a movie or show only to find there is nudity. But, I have to say, having a “nudity-free” mind is SO refreshing!

The main topic of the message was continual sin. Things that you just cannot stop doing. I’ve made huge strides in some major sins in my life over the past few years. It’s been amazing. But there are still lingering “nice but major” sins like pride. There are still things that drag me down. One of them is depression/discouragement/”can’t get out of bed.” I’ve been thinking that I need to come up with ways to combat this, things that will pull me out of that pit and help me to find joy again. This sermon was a great reminder to do so. I’m still noodling what that will look like, but I have a feeling cutting out some Facebook will be a part of it.

Are there areas in your life you need to take a knife to the eye? Have you taken drastic measures to cut things out?

Day 2677 – What Election Day Means For Us!

Being a teacher, Bret is off today. It’s been a pretty great day off, if I say so myself!

We slept in a little, did a few things around the apartment and went to vote. Before we left, I did a quick search on election freebies if you vote. I was most excited about the free Krispy Kreme doughnut…until I found out they weren’t offering that in Maryland. Boo. We tried a few places but just kept striking out. We ended up going to our new favorite buffet! No freebies, but lots of delicious food and tea!
