About 365 days of marriage

I started this blog in April of 2011. At the time, Bret and I were wedding photographers and it was a way to share how marriage is more about the day to day and so much more than the wedding day itself. For about 5 years, I blogged about the joys and sorrows of the Christian walk, marriage, work, family and friends. I’ve blogged every day since a few weeks after I started. In May of 2015, we photographed our last wedding. Now, I have become passionate about simplicity, particularly in marriage, Christianity, business, travel and life. For a number of reasons, we have become minimalists. I’ve found that having simplicity makes life so much deeper, refreshing and joyful. I hope that this blog will help others see the benefits of living simply.

Day 1470 – THE Best Cream Of Crab Soup I’ve EVER Had…And I’m From Baltimore!

Today we went on a mini date to a place I’ve always seen but never been to. The place is Broom’s Bloom Dairy in Harford County. After going, I cannot believe I’ve never been….AND what I found there!

Bret got a coffee ice cream and I got a tangerine sorbet…I noticed they had cream of crab soup….and that is my FAVORITE! I try it at almost every place I go. Obviously, I had to try it.

What I tasted was absolute, pure, amazing, perfection in a bowl. There was NO skimping on crab meat. There was SO much Old Bay…even though I added some, I didn’t need to. It was a thick soup. Nothing added that didn’t need to be there. Who would’ve thought, the best cream of crab soup of my life would be at a dairy!

If you haven’t been here (and already half of my friends are shocked that I hadn’t been!), whether you’re in Harford County, Baltimore County or in another state, you HAVE to go! Trust me. As someone who has had gallons and gallons of cream of crab soup, this is worth the trip.

Day 1469 – How To Reconnect With Your Spouse

It’s been a really crazy summer for Bret and me. Recently, we’ve noticed we’re a little distant…just from work and taking care of things. I’m not going to lie, I think the heat comes into play too. Bret works outside some days and the heat can be very draining. It’s SO easy to come home, and veg. I totally get it!

Anyways, we’re in a little “oh hey, hi, how are you, excuse me while I go do something else” slump, so, in an effort to help us, I’m going to tell you ten things that I absolutely love about Bret…to honor him and also to remind me. :0)

1. The way he points me back to God. One of the BEST questions he asks me when I’m struggling with something is “did you pray about it?” 9 times out of 10, I haven’t.
2. He is willing to work a bazillion jobs so I can do photography.
2 a. One of these jobs is working outside in the sweltering heat.
3. The way he’ll look at me across a room, doesn’t say anything, just looks, as if I’m the most interesting person in the world.
4. The way he calls me donk donk. (Think honky tonk badonkadonk)
5. The way that he really gets into photographing our clients. He loves it so much now, I have to push him out of the way! πŸ™‚
6. That he loves me so unconditionally. I’m not the most perfect person in the world (as much as I think I am) and the fact that he still loves me blows my mind.
7. The way that he can chat with and get along with ANYONE.
8. The way that he cares more about others than himself. When you talk to him, the conversation will be about you and he’ll only talk about himself if you ask him to.
9. The way he cares about his health…and mine. I have never seen someone workout SO much.
10. The fact that it doesn’t take much to make him happy.

Day 1468 – The Best Hot Dog Cart In Bel Air Maryland

One of the things I love about my life (and house sitting in Bel Air) is being able to take a break mid-day and do things I couldn’t with a 9-5 job. I’m also thankful that Bret has a somewhat flexible schedule these days too. A few days ago, we took advantage of this and went to get hot dogs from our friend Chris!

Moore Wieners (tee hee, I know, I know….his last name is Moore!) is located on N. Main Street in Bel Air Maryland, right in front of the court house. Since he opened last year, he’s added more and more toppings. Since Bret hadn’t had any of his new flavors, we tried them all.

From the top the toppings are…
Panamanian
Asian
Chili Cheese
Bacon Ranch Fiesta

Now, you may be wondering what’s on these dogs….well….

The Panamanian is pineapple and crushed chips
The Asian is Asian sauce and wontons
The Chili Cheese is, well, chili and cheese…this wasn’t a new one for me, it’s just my favorite. πŸ™‚
Bacon Ranch Fiesta is a hot dog stuffed with jalapeno’s and cheese and we topped it with Bacon and Ranch

You may think the Panamanian and Asian sound a little odd, but trust me, they were SOOOOOOOO good. I’m not going to lie, I wanted to get more!!!

So if you live in the Bel Air area or even if you don’t, check out his cart!! Bonus points if you’re looking for a wedding/bridesmaid’s/mom’s/prom dress or a wedding planner/stylist because K&B Bridals/Moore & Co. Event Stylists is RIGHT down the street!
