I first heard of Profit First: Transform Your Business from a Cash-Eating Monster to a Money-Making Machine* by Mike Michalowicz on Sunny Lenarduzzi’s YouTube channel. I’m SO glad that this book found its way into my reading list. I just finished it yesterday and I have to say, it has already had an impact on our businesses. We have adjusted every source of income to take a profit out. So I can say, all of our sources of income are profitable now.
There are lots of books about finances and income and how to allocate your money, but what I really liked about this one was he gives you a system that works with where you are. It encourages baby steps and taking a good, hard look at what you’re doing. As luck would have it, Bret listened to this at the same time, so we were able to talk about what we learned in almost real time. It is so important to be on the same page with finances!
If your business isn’t profitable or if you’d like to increase your profitability, this is the book for you.

I read that a few months back. It is simple, but powerful. The old pay yourself first principle but with practical application to a business in a modern world. Total game changer.
It really was. We’ve been able to take 1% profit since we read it (my hubby happened to be listening to it at the same time). It’s been a nice addition to our travel fund every quarter, that’s for sure! I’m looking forward to reading clockwork. I think I started it but ran out of library time or something. But I’m a big geek about systems, so it’s pretty high on my TBR list!
