Day 3492 – The Things That Surprised Me About Blogging Every Day

When I started this blog all the way back on April 11, 2011, I had no idea the path it would take. My original goal was to give potential and current clients an inside look into our marriage. We strove to be friends with our clients and this seemed a good way to do that…and to keep us at the top of everyone’s minds.

For five years, that’s what this blog was, it also included sharing about our travels, which lead to a book about road trip travel. Since stopping photography, it has become a hodgepodge of topics, but a few things surprised me during the time and as I look back.

After reading, Dream Big, Think Small: Living an Extraordinary Life One Day at a Time, I was struck by the power of showing up each day. It was at that point that I did rough math and figured I had written, likely, over half a million words.

I realized that blogging every day stretched my writing muscles in lots of great ways.

I never expected people to respond like they did about my alcoholism and sobriety.

I don’t think I expected folks to read it so much and pay attention so much.

So thank you all for the surprising things. 🙂
