Day 734 – A Day of Rest

Today we took our day of rest. It was so wonderful! It was also REALLY hard!!! I’m very much a workaholic, ahem, “passionate about my work” type of person. I can work a 12 hour day editing images from a wedding and still be up for more! So, as I approach working full time as a photographer, I’m seeing that taking a day of full and complete rest is going to be VERY necessary! And also something that will take discipline. Funny thought, huh? You have to discipline yourself to rest. If you don’t believe me…try it, just one day, no work (obviously, make this a day you’re not scheduled to work!)…it’s harder than you think! Then again…maybe it’s just me…

What did we do today you ask? Well…first, we slept until 11:30! Solid! Don’t forget that we saw the midnight showing of Harry Potter last night! We got home around 2:30 and maybe asleep by 3….so, it’s not so bad… then we started playing Lego Star Wars. We are seriously addicted to this game. It may be a problem. Then we grabbed lunch with my brother at Jason’s Deli and did a little shopping with him. Bret then went to hang out with my brother at my parents’ house and I stayed home. I started a puzzle, watched movies and just flat out relaxed. It was glorious. I didn’t even turn on my computer! I did check my Facebook a few times….and my business email just once!

Here is the mostly completed puzzle with the controllers for the game! Great day!

Day 722 – Spinning Rings

Tonight we hung out with some friends, including Chris and Bridget.

I snagged this pic with the melon liquor. I love how green it is! : )

I don’t know how it started, but Chris started spinning his wedding ring…

Then Bret spun mine…

I love how it looks like Chris’s ring is chasing mine!

Then it was a ring madhouse!

Finishing off with a nice picture of Chris and Bridget’s rings.

Bret LOVES this shot…we’ll see if we can talk our future couples into spinning their wedding rings…this might be a good “hang out a few weeks after the wedding” picture. : )

Day 685 – Four Sprints – Crazy Day

Today I had off from my day job. I decided to use the time to catch up with some friends. My day was full of friends I haven’t seen in a while….and four sprints….

Sprint number 1 occurred after my run with Kristi. We ran about a mile and a half and the last 10th I sprinted. That one was on purpose.

Sprint number 2 occurred when I arrived in Baltimore to see some old co-workers. We went to Potbelly Sandwich Shop. It’s been a while since I was in that part of Baltimore….and, well, the shop wasn’t where I thought it was! So, I start wandering…I was already 15 minutes later than I had told them I would be there….this is when I started to freak out. This was also the point that I got a phone call….I missed the call and called right back, thinking it was my co-worker….the person answered and I said “Janice?? Hello?” to which the caller said, “this is so and so from the Perfect Wedding Guide we have your new books, are you home?” This is where I was like…oh, HA, oops! “I’m not, but my husband is!” (his phone wasn’t turned on, so I couldn’t tell him…let’s just say the box of books was left at the door!)….OK, so I’m lost in Baltimore, it’s hot, I’ve just made a fool of myself on the phone and I have no idea what to do. I finally find a cop and ask…he points down the street, about a block away….yes! So, then, I take off running. When I arrive and find my co-workers, they say, oh, we just got here!

Sprint number 3 occurred when I arrived at the Lexington Market Lightrail stop. I sat on a bench that was all blue and yellow…I look to the left and there’s the train! Rock on! Didn’t have to wait long at all! Then the train keeps going…I look to the right and there’s the ACTUAL stop…half a block away….so, I take off running…with two other girls who made the same mistake.

At this point I met up with my good friend Megan. She had a sandwich and I had a coffee from On the Hill Cafe

Now, this dear friend Megan is a marathon runner and was getting ready for a marathon on Sunday. So, while she was getting ready (and not giving me any jobs to help her) I hung out with her cat, Killer. He’s one of the coolest cats I’ve ever met.

We then went to Mick O’Shea’s Pub for happy hour. For some reason, Megan thought it would be a good idea to park 2 blocks away…at the bottom of a very large hill….with steps. (I complained the whole way)

Sprint number 4 occurred when I was taking the Lightrail home. I walked to the tracks…looked to my left….TRAIN!…looked to my right…stop…2 blocks away. *sigh* RUN! I think I made it half a block before I gave up. Thankfully I only had to wait a few more minutes for the next train.

The end of my evening was spent with Kristi and our friend Marta (who had a beautiful baby girl only 3 days later! [yes, I’m writing this in the future…]) at Smoothie King. It was my first time…holy cow, it was a GREAT smoothie! I can’t believe I’ve never gone before!

Whew! What a day!
