Day 2928 – What I’m Reading Right Now

Ha ha, I will say, these are just the books I’m definitely reading right now. This does not include the 3 fiction novels due next week, or the 2 kids books and fiction novel due the week after that…..or the full shelf of books from the library….but hey!

What are you reading right now?

Day 2841 – My 100th Book Read In 2017!

Last night, I finished I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh. It was the 100th book I’ve read this year. There are a few reading challenges I started this year, but I’ve lazily let them slide and have only been reading what’s on my To Be Read List and whatever catches my eye at the library. I’m sure I’ll get back to them because there are great things on the various lists.

Before you think I don’t have a life, here’s some numbers of the books I’ve read so far this year:
22 are full/chapter books.
3 of those 22 were shorter children’s chapter books, but long enough that I felt justified in calling them a full book.
1 of those 22 was a book of Liz Climo cartoons.
78 of the 100 were children’s books.
100 total books…but maybe we say I read 22?

What do you think? Should I say I’ve read 100 books or 22?

Day 2817 – I Like Big Books And I Cannot Lie

I’m currently reading The Passage by Justin Cronin. Goodreads says it’s 766 pages. I couldn’t find the regular print at my library, but they had the large print edition….total page count? 1,181 pages. Oh mama! It does make me feel like I’m reading faster than normal. 😀

I am just loving the weather in Maryland! I’ve lived on the porch the last two afternoons.

What are you reading on your porch today?

Day 2808 – Today’s Library Haul

I got a great stack today! Last night, I finished After The End and had NO idea it ended on a cliffhanger! Ugh! The worst part was that the next book was just chilling at my local library! In preparing to pick it up today, I did a quick scan of my Goodreads to be read fiction shelf and found a few other books to read. I learned from my past mistake and made sure I got all three of The Passage series. I have a few others I’ve been meaning to read for a while. Can’t wait to jump into these books.

What’s in your current to be read pile? Let me know in the comments below!

Day 2786 – Bret Works At The Best School!

Last night, I got to check out the coolest event at Bret’s school, literature night! Classrooms were transformed into worlds from books. The Boxcar Children, Little House On The Prairie, Lemony Snicket, The Berenstain Bears, cookies and milk in honor of If You Give A Mouse A Cookie, they also had several Jeopardy! games about books, and my favorite room, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. It was amazing how the rooms were transformed. There were lockers with scenes from books too. It was all I could do to not jump up and down like a little kid. It was neat to see how much Bret’s students like him. Everywhere we went, kids were saying Hey Mr. G! I got one or two Hey Mrs. G’s!

The first room we checked out was The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe. You had to go through the wardrobe to get in!!!

In the winter section, they gave kids packages to carry and an obstacle course to carry them through. Then they had a beautiful map of Narnia. *swoon*

In the next room, we received a little vile of Aslan’s potion. (see below for a picture). There was a white witch handing out Turkish delight and if the kids ate it, they were frozen by the witch. But then someone had a fan with a lion around it and that was Aslan’s breath unfreezing them!

The stone table was there.

Another favorite room was the Berenstain Bears. They made their tree house!!!!

We sat by the fire for a few minutes too. 🙂

After we finished up, we were helping pack up and it turns out they were giving away books! I got some GREAT ones! I can’t wait to read them and pass them on!

What a great night. 🙂
