Day 943 – Website Updates or My Heart, All Over the Page
I have changed my website several times over the last year. Not because I can’t make my mind up, but because I have changed as a person, a photographer and just an overall business owner over the last year. I have learned SO much about myself just in the few months I’ve been a full time photographer. With every update to the website, more and more of myself is being shared on the pages. More and more of my truly favorite pictures and moments are being shared. The more I am helping brides see what they will get if they hire Bret and I. Since I’m sure the next few days will be filled with lots of focus on the website, I’m going to share a few of my favorites from 2011!
Day 851 – Rework
I’m currently rereading Rework By Jason Fried, David Heinemeier Hansson of 37signals. It is so different than many business books you’ll read today. It’s so logical and smart. I have gleaned so much knowledge from it! I really enjoyed it the first read through, but at that point I was still working my day job and couldn’t really devote the time to implement the things they said. I’m so grateful for the time now! Woo! If you have a small business, want to have a small business, work as any kind of management in a business or just like to read business books, you MUST read this book as soon as you can. As Seth Godin says, right on the cover, “Ignore this book at your own peril.”
Day 811 – Productive Day
So, today has been a productive day. Did my devotions (finally in a rhythm I think!) Caught up on the blog (I think I’m doing a daily blog that I update once a week….heh heh). Got a short run in. Had lunch with old co-workers…which was a blast! Finished typing my notes from the conference…I ended up with 35 pages, typed. A few double spaced…but still…my mind is racing with ideas about my business! I did learn something about myself through all this typing….I’m a fast typer with REALLY bad accuracy! But, it’s done! Ah. Definitely learned a lot about business, myself and how I want to be seen.
It was a little chilly in the apartment, so I went searching for a long sleeve t-shirt. I found one of my FAVORITE shirts! It’s like the one I talked about on Day 676 but softer and no holes.
I’m not going to lie, this was a hard picture to take! I wanted to take the picture with the shirt on and with my rings….and Bret isn’t home to take it! So…my cheek was my stabilizer! 🙂
Day 794 – 2000 Wedding Pros Doing the Wave
That’s Carley Roney, who is the Co-Founder and Editor in Chief of The Knot talking about wedding trends. Awful picture, but it was really cool to hear her speak!!
This is 2000ish wedding professionals doing the wave. Yea. It was pretty cool.
This is Bridget and I at a Knot party! I felt like I was in the same room as a celebrity. I was like 5 feet from Carley. ::girl scream:: I tried to get a picture with her, but she’s kinda popular. It’s all good. : )
After the party, I saw these lovely fountains.
I want to stop here to share a story. I have been to Vegas twice before today. The first time was when Bret and I attempted to attend the Marine Corps. Ball….yea, that didn’t happen….and that’s a story for another day. I will say that it was like we were in a Steve Martin/Goldie Hawn comedy where everything that could go wrong, did. Anyways, we ended up driving up and down the strip and we passed the Bellagio and JUST missed the show. So we turned around and waited for the next show….and waited….and waited. Finally gave up after about 20-30 minutes. We visited a few years later, but it was a very quick visit and we didn’t get to walk around. I have wanted to see those fountains again so bad. I told Tif the ONLY thing, other than learning things at my conference, I wanted to do or see in Vegas was the fountains. So! I did. 😉
I can’t express how happy I was to see them. What made it even better was the song played was Proud to Be an American. I think of myself as a proud American, so, I watched with teary eyes. I won’t lie.
