About 365 days of marriage

I started this blog in April of 2011. At the time, Bret and I were wedding photographers and it was a way to share how marriage is more about the day to day and so much more than the wedding day itself. For about 5 years, I blogged about the joys and sorrows of the Christian walk, marriage, work, family and friends. I’ve blogged every day since a few weeks after I started. In May of 2015, we photographed our last wedding. Now, I have become passionate about simplicity, particularly in marriage, Christianity, business, travel and life. For a number of reasons, we have become minimalists. I’ve found that having simplicity makes life so much deeper, refreshing and joyful. I hope that this blog will help others see the benefits of living simply.

Day 1848 – What Am I Reading Right Now And Why

Reading has been a big part of my life recently. I’ve always loved to read, but to grow my photography business, I started to read more. More on business, on marketing, on photography itself, everything really. I thought you might be interested in what’s in my queue this week.

the dead & the gone – Susan Beth Pfeffer – This is the second in the “series.” I finished this yesterday and was all ready to read the next book I had….but BLAST! I had checked out the 4th, not the 3rd. Ah well. This series is about the moon getting hit by a meteor and what happens afterwards. It has been gripping and believable. Enough that I think about our food levels every time I look in the cabinet. Excellent piece of fiction.

Stephen King On Writing – I’ve talked about writing a book a few times on here, well, I’m finally starting to move forward with that. I have a fiction and a non-fiction idea….and ever since I “allowed” my brain to think about writing, the ideas have been flowing. So it may be more than just the two. πŸ™‚

The Walking Dead Vol. 20 – Because, well, zombies. πŸ™‚ But seriously, the next volume is being shipped to my library now and I like to catch up before the new one. Eeeep!

The 4-Hour Work Week – Timothy Ferriss – This book has been on my radar for a while. I’m not sure why I waited so long to start it. It’s been life changing (you’ve read a few posts about this already) and challenging. It has questioned decisions I’ve made about business and life but it has also confirmed I’m doing a lot right. I HIGHLY recommend this book.

The Writer’s Digest Guide to Science Fiction & Fantasy The fiction book I’m toying with is a science fiction, so this random find at the library is perfect!

Think Big – Ben Carson – Another random find at the library. It’s been encouraging so far! Always cool to hear how someone super successful made it.

The Nighttime Novelist – Random find at the library and I think my best find so far. I read the first 20 pages yesterday and it already has me thinking about my story in a lot of new ways.

What are you reading right now and why?

Day 1845 – Need A Fun Driving Game?

OK, so it’s a game to play when you don’t have a destination in mind. It’s fun when you’re exploring a new town or learning more about your own.

The coin game! Basically, you flip a coin at each stop light and stop sign. Heads is Right, Tails is Left and if you drop it, go straight.

I played with a friend yesterday and we ended up going from the 152/Harford Road park and ride to Jarretsville to Fork to Towson (ok, we cheated a little here) to Loch Raven (cheated a little again) to Fork again to Bel Air to Riverside (didn’t cheat and ended up at Broom’s Bloom!)

It was a great day!
