About 365 days of marriage

I started this blog in April of 2011. At the time, Bret and I were wedding photographers and it was a way to share how marriage is more about the day to day and so much more than the wedding day itself. For about 5 years, I blogged about the joys and sorrows of the Christian walk, marriage, work, family and friends. I’ve blogged every day since a few weeks after I started. In May of 2015, we photographed our last wedding. Now, I have become passionate about simplicity, particularly in marriage, Christianity, business, travel and life. For a number of reasons, we have become minimalists. I’ve found that having simplicity makes life so much deeper, refreshing and joyful. I hope that this blog will help others see the benefits of living simply.

Day 2686 – It’s Nice Having Sophisticated Friends – or – Watch Ya Mouth Review

Yesterday, I got to hang out with one of my dearest friends. She brought a game for us to play and boy howdy, was it fun! It was this game!

Watch Ya’ Mouth Family Edition, the Authentic, Hilarious, Mouth Guard Party Game*

Now, we played the NSFW version….and let’s just say that it is VERY not safe for work! There were quite a few cards we had to skip! But, if that’s up your alley, it is pretty hilarious.

Don’t we look so grown up?

Day 2685 – Marriage Tip – Never Underestimate The Power Of A Cup Of Coffee

I have become extremely spoiled recently. About 95% of the time, Bret makes the coffee in the morning. I’ll even “complain” if he hasn’t.

This week, Bret has started a new thing – bringing the coffee to me….while I’m still in bed.

Monday was a rough morning because I couldn’t fall asleep for a while and we were up really late. How does Bret surprise me? He let me sleep until the last possible moment and brought in the coffee. He brought in his cup too so we could chat. Great start to the day.

This morning, once I was awake (which I alert Bret to by blowing a kiss), he told me to be careful where I moved my arms. I looked to my right and there was a cup of coffee. He left it in there for when I woke up. Can I just say that I felt great when I woke up? Guess the smell of coffee is the secret to that “leaping out of bed, ready for a great day” thing. πŸ™‚

Day 2684 – My Next Book Is About Cross Country Travel And I Need Your Help!

I’m very happy to report that I have finally made some major progress on my book! It has become more of a devotional than anything else. My manuscript with with an editor/reviewer as we speak! The next step is finding a cover designer (any recommendations, pass them my way!) and then all the copyrighting/ISBN etc business and you’ll be able to buy my book on Amazon! It’s so weird to be this close! Eeeep!

If you haven’t picked up yet, I’m big into dreaming and doing the next thing even while working on another. So! I already have my next book in the queue! I will be writing on cross country road trips! I’ve obviously got a ton of material to work with and a bunch of experience. Bonus – I LOVE to talk about it! Every few weeks, I’ll get a message from someone asking for tips. I end up putting in a good 30-45 minutes giving them advice….and it never feels that long. I’m really pumped to write this book!

Here’s how you can help me! Tell me your questions about planning a cross country trip. I want all your questions. Crazy questions, serious questions, questions you don’t know if you should ask or not.

Hopefully, it will inspire more people to go to places like this…
