I used Day 3038 as a base for this post, but added a few updates.

For nearly four years, we have shared a car. It’s not something most couples could realistically do, between different jobs, kids, and different interests.

When we had to go down to one vehicle, we thought, well, let’s try it and see how long we can last. I can say, there have only been a handful of times that it’s been a struggle in the last four years. We’ve saved a lot of money with only one vehicle. It’s also helped us both grow in patience. Sometimes we have to wait for the other, sometimes it can be for a long time. But thankfully, I have a job that’s super flexible and now that I’ve taken on more with our real estate business, I can do things Bret can’t do during the day while he’s at school. Just a few weeks ago, I went to an appointment and a closing because he couldn’t.

I mentioned in the last post that more time together was a benefit. Now that we live less than a mile from his school, there’s less time in the car together, so that’s not as big of a deal anymore.

While there is a part of me that misses being able to up and go whenever I want, it has forced me to be logical about my errands and running around.

I’m sure at some point we’ll get another car, but for now, it works for us and has saved us quite a bit of money.
