Day 3021 – Bret Has Officially Broken A World Record

Bret and I have had to make a lot of sacrifices over the years. Sometimes for paying down debt, sometimes to protect ourselves, sometimes for our health, sometimes to achieve something great. Since Bret is not a bragger, I’m going to share this for him. In October of 2013, Bret attempted to break the Guinness World Record for the fireman’s carry. He unofficially broke it, but then found out he hadn’t run far enough by only about ten steps. He decided to try it again in California, carrying his dad. He attempted it again, and unofficially broke it in December of 2014. For a number of reasons, we weren’t able to submit everything until the Fall 2016/Spring 2017. In a lot of ways, Bret had let this go. Whether it was ever officially recognized or not, he knew he broke it. We’ve been periodically checking the status, but there have been a long line of other Guinness World Record attempts getting reviewed.

Nearly three years after his 2nd attempt, Bret was informed that he officially broke the record. Ladies and gentlemen, my husband is a Guinness World Record holder. You can see him online here:

Bret, thanks for showing me how sacrifices, discipline, and saying no are worth it.
