Day 2801 – Bret’s Current Ring Status

If you’ve followed the blog for a while, or if you’ve had conversations with us in person, you know Bret isn’t particularly good at holding on to wedding rings. As I scrolled through On This Day on Facebook, I discovered a very surprising thing…..Bret has been wearing the same ring set for more than HALF of our marriage! I can’t believe he hasn’t lost it yet! Way to go Bret! He says this ring set is so important to him because it used to be mine. I always give him a hard time and say, oh, so much more important than the one I PUT ON YOUR FINGER when I declared my commitment to you? But hey, it stuck.

Has your spouse lost any rings?

Day 1972 – That Time I Almost Lost My Ring…

If you’ve been reading my blog for any amount of time, you know Bret has lost four rings. He’s currently on 5, 6 and 7 (it’s a three in one ring). I’ve given a hard time about this over the years, but I really don’t mind when he loses them. The rings are cheap (no more than $30) and our marriage is not based on the ring on his finger. And hey, it’s given me a TON of blogging material!

There have been a few times I’ve taken a picture with my rings for the blog and ALMOST forgot to put my rings back on. I think my favorite almost forgotten rings was when they were hanging on a flower at a restaurant. Doh!

Well folks, last night, I almost lost my engagement ring! I had just second shot/assisted with one of my favorite photographers, Robin Shotola of Shotola Photography & Design. We picked up Krispy Kreme doughnuts on the way back (HOT from the oven, be still my heart!) and I was taking a picture of my rings on top of my coffee cup (cute little heart shape on the top caught my attention). Robin was pumping gas and I put the coffee on my lap and the rings on top. Something got bumped and my rings went flying. I got the wedding band off the seat, but my poor engagement ring fell into the deep recesses that are the side of a car seat. I finally fished out the ring and took a picture on TOP of the car. 🙂 I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to have a scare like that with my ring(s). Though, it would’ve been fun/nice to get a new ring set!
