About 365 days of marriage

I started this blog in April of 2011. At the time, Bret and I were wedding photographers and it was a way to share how marriage is more about the day to day and so much more than the wedding day itself. For about 5 years, I blogged about the joys and sorrows of the Christian walk, marriage, work, family and friends. I’ve blogged every day since a few weeks after I started. In May of 2015, we photographed our last wedding. Now, I have become passionate about simplicity, particularly in marriage, Christianity, business, travel and life. For a number of reasons, we have become minimalists. I’ve found that having simplicity makes life so much deeper, refreshing and joyful. I hope that this blog will help others see the benefits of living simply.

Nine and a half years ago, I married my very best friend. It’s been an adventure and quite the journey to now and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Here’s to another five million seconds. 😀

Day 3469 – Less Junk < More Journey

After our amazing 2016 road trip, we started thinking about living in an RV/Camper van/etc full time and traveling the country. I found so many amazing YouTubers who gave lots of info on how to do it. We have since decided that the bigger dream we have is the ability to travel when we want, and not so much living on the road.

But there was one channel that I continued to follow, Less Junk < More Journey. I just love their attitude, their fun, and the things they share about life on the road. I recently found out that part of their passive income is rental properties, yet another connection with them.

Before Thanksgiving, they released a new line of merch and I picked up one of their sweatshirts. I have to say, it is the most comfortable sweatshirt I’ve ever owned (I’m seriously considering picking up another one). And I love the message that it shares. It also gives me a chance to talk them up when folks notice my shirt.

Day 3468 – Surprise Photo

This morning, I had to find a photo from our 2016 road trip. While searching, I found one (see below) that I don’t remember having. I kind of remember taking it, but it’s a really fun photo and one I might have printed out.

It’s a good reminder to actually look through what you DO have. I can’t even comprehend how many photos that I have that I might not remember, between all those from wedding photography, our many travels, and just random things.

How often do you go through your photos?

Day 3467 – Going With The Flow

When we got back from Cali, we hit the ground running with our business. Bret and I were just talking about how we really haven’t had a break since. “Weekend” and “day off” are unknown words right now.

I’m finding instead of getting overwhelmed, freaked out, stressed out, etc, I have to just go with the flow and do what I can. I’m breathing deeper more often than I have before, and boy howdy, learning to grow.

I’ve been all about rest, self-care, etc, and I still am, so the challenge is trying to find the balance in our current season. One thing that really meant a lot and has helped on these days is something Bret said a few days ago, “I can’t wait to see how you change this year.”

I can look back to last January and I see a very different person. Heck, I can look back just a month or two ago, and see the big changes.

If nothing else, this season is teaching me to breathe more.
