About 365 days of marriage

I started this blog in April of 2011. At the time, Bret and I were wedding photographers and it was a way to share how marriage is more about the day to day and so much more than the wedding day itself. For about 5 years, I blogged about the joys and sorrows of the Christian walk, marriage, work, family and friends. I’ve blogged every day since a few weeks after I started. In May of 2015, we photographed our last wedding. Now, I have become passionate about simplicity, particularly in marriage, Christianity, business, travel and life. For a number of reasons, we have become minimalists. I’ve found that having simplicity makes life so much deeper, refreshing and joyful. I hope that this blog will help others see the benefits of living simply.

Day 1671 – What I’m Reading Today…

As you know, I’ve been reading a lot recently. I highly recommend reading and reading a lot…especially for a business owner. I can’t remember where I heard/read/whatever about this book, but I added it to my list. The book is Contagious by Jonah Berger. Holy smokes it’s good! In just the introduction, I already had several ideas about my business! I can’t wait to finish it and apply what I’ve learned!

Interesting fact…only 7% of word of mouth happens online. I was totally shocked. I really thought it was more. I’m already rethinking some of my strategies for finding clients based on this.

What about you, are you shocked at that percentage?

Day 1669 – Remembering Summer – Part 3

Today takes us to Lake Placid a few years back.

I had seen a picture of a bride rock climbing in her dress and had hoped to get one of my own.

Thanks to my super talented husband, I finally got that shot. To top off the wonderfulness, it was on my birthday! πŸ™‚

Day 1668 – Remembering Summer – Part 2

Ahhh, another warm wedding! This was a Circle D Farm wedding.

What I loved about this wedding was the gobs and gobs of uniqueness! Favorite part? The ribbon Handfasting ceremony. They had their parents, wedding party and a few very close friends wrap the ribbon around their hands. The best part was that each of those special people got to pick their own ribbon…something that fit their personality.

Day 1667 – Remembering Summer – Part 1

It is cold here. The snow has almost melted…but we’re expecting more snow in the morning. *sigh*

Thankfully, the snow doesn’t get in the way of my job anymore (except when the power/internet goes out)…but it’s getting old. I miss the summer!

So, I’m going to take a few days to remember some of my favorite summer memories.

Today takes us back to a Gooseberry Beach Wedding in Rhode Island. This was a super fun wedding! I had been friends with the bride for a few years and friends with the groom for many many years. I LOVE photographing my friends’ weddings!

This shot took place just in time! The sun was gone in about 5 minutes. Ahhhhh, the sun. πŸ™‚
