About 365 days of marriage

I started this blog in April of 2011. At the time, Bret and I were wedding photographers and it was a way to share how marriage is more about the day to day and so much more than the wedding day itself. For about 5 years, I blogged about the joys and sorrows of the Christian walk, marriage, work, family and friends. I’ve blogged every day since a few weeks after I started. In May of 2015, we photographed our last wedding. Now, I have become passionate about simplicity, particularly in marriage, Christianity, business, travel and life. For a number of reasons, we have become minimalists. I’ve found that having simplicity makes life so much deeper, refreshing and joyful. I hope that this blog will help others see the benefits of living simply.

Day 2496 – Progress On My Book And A Sneak Peek Of The Last Chapter

I have been working on my book for years now. It has been a really frustrating journey, I’m not going to lie. I’ve had to start from scratch about 3 times so far. I have felt doubt. I have stopped many, many times. I finally had the realization that to write a book about work and how it applies to the Christian, I needed to start from the source (the bible, duh Jen!) Since then, I have found a rhythm and a groove. Today, I wanted to see how much more I had to do. So I created a spreadsheet with what I’ve written and what I’ve typed. A few months back, Bret and I went to the National Archives Museum and I bought a quill. I have been writing each chapter with this quill! I love feeling like I’m living hundreds of years ago, leaving a record of my thoughts. Then I type the chapter into my Word document. It’s a cool process that works for me. A week or so ago, I wrote what I knew would be the last chapter. THAT was a really motivating day! There are times in my life and work when something just clicks and it finally makes sense. Writing that chapter was it for me. My format for the book is taking a verse or verses from the bible about work and breaking it down and giving my thoughts and application ideas. If you notice, I have a list of 85 verses! And it’s growing. I find other verses that apply as I read through the bible doing my devotions. God has a LOT to say about work! I cannot wait to share what I’ve written!

Verse from what I think will be the final chapter – “strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.”
Acts 14:22
