Bret and I like to rock climb. We take off our rings to climb. I didn’t take a camera to the gym, but here’s what my hand looks like without rings.
Now, we get to enjoy the Goonies together! : )

I had to stop wearing my engagement and wedding rings when I started climbing more frequently. My fingers would swell and shrink so much from day to day that I couldn’t get them to fit right anymore.
That’s crazy! I’m wondering how mine will do as I climb more. It seems like I’ll climb really well for a while and then get busy. Did you get new rings or just go without?
p.s. I took a quick peek at your website, awesome!! I love climbing in the Gunks! I hope to get up there at least once this year.
I’ve just gone without rings – I tend not to wear lots of jewelry and the necklace and earrings I wear I just leave in for months at a time. But sometimes I do miss the rings. Someday I should go get them resized, but I suspect I will only be able to wear them on days my fingers want to be the correct size. Then again, I’ve been married for almost 24 years, so I guess the novelty has worn off. π
Thanks for the complement on my site! I recently moved full time to live next to the Gunks instead of driving up most weekends. I am totally loving it! Just today it was nice out, I wanted to take a walk, so I just took the 2 minute drive to the parking lot, and spent an hour walking along the carriage road at the base of the cliffs, then went home. What a gorgeous place to have for my “backyard”!
I’m the same way! I used to be a “ring on every finger” kind of girl….but as soon as I put on the engagement ring, that was it. I tried to wear another ring (besides my wedding band) and I just can’t do it. It was such a funny switch. There was no going back….it was like the day I decided I drank my coffee black.
I would imagine the novelty would wear off! My parents have been married nearly 35 years and they haven’t had rings for as long I can remember!
You’re welcome! It’s so awesome to hear someone being able to do what they love! I have to say I’m jealous that you’re a two minute drive from carriage road! Ah! I’d say that’s a pretty nice “backyard”!! If hubby and I can make it up there this year, I’ll let you know!! We just got some awesome backpacking gear…gives us a good excuse to “test it out.” π
